I cannot understand how the players on this team would respect a coach like that who refuse to do any pushbacks when your best players are getting slaughtered. It's pathetic and disgusting, really. His ego refushed to make changes for 4 straight games! That's why he should have been fired. People are like "yea but we went to the Conference finals". Look Torto is not returning to Vegas even after he went to the finals and because he was a complete idiot in the series, Vegas is probably happy he is leaving. He too had the stubborn idea to not make changes after poor results.
Yeah i really wonder why players respect MSL.

Reading these comments you'd think the habs would've won the cup if not for Marty's delusional "ego", and everything bad with the team is because of him... jfc.

I’ve read Habs’ D is still on the learning curve of a defensive system no one here seems to like.

I know I don’t like it. Maybe it looks better with better players back there? (((Shrug)))

Anyway, on the other side was a good core of players who have played Brindy hockey for years, and some newer ‘Canes who fit in nicely.

And they were rested and healthy.

Tall order. Too tall.

Triple bracket is internet speak for Jewish, so I don't know why you wrote (((shrug))), perhaps it has another meaning that I don't know, or perhaps you're suggesting a trade for Buium.

We went this far cause he did do good things. But he refused to adapt and was stubborn at the most critical moment.
bah, this implies that there was an obvious solution in front of him, which was not the case. Criticizing him is one thing, but I don't get all this "ego" stuff, to me he looks like a guy who is willing to learn. Time will tell I guess, but all this ego talk has zero credibility and is kinda goofy.

Interesting agenda, quick correction to your whole premise though: Torts said in the beginning it was just for the playoff run and their intention had been to promote the AHL coach all along. But nice try, keep pushing the arrogant, egomaniac coach agenda you got going. It's a good look.

List of hypothetical suggestions, that are irrelevant because we don't have a parallel universe machine.

Replace Struble with Xhekaj.
Replace Veleno with Beck.
Replace injured Dobson with Engstrom, the third pair of Xhekaj-Engstrom would only play ten minutes.
Place Caulfield on the second line. Try a top six of

Anderson-Suzuki-Newhook
Slafkovsky-Evans-Caulfield

It couldn't have been worse. I'm honestly perplexed by the argument that the Habs were guaranteed to lose.

All the line-up change or even system change in the world couldn't fix the problem......cause the problem simply couldn't be fix.
Our core players were out for the count. All of them. Even Hutson and Suzuki.

All the other teams making the conference finals were MATURE teams, with their core players mostly in their 26-31 years old
Our core players ? ALL of them are in their 19-25 years old.

Add to that our brutal schedule. And not only about the lack of breaks we had, but add travelling on top of it.
In our association, most teams it's a 1h-1h30 flight....Except Florida, Carolina and Tampa which was a 3h30 flight.....

No more juice to squeeze from our core players and it's impossible to replace that.

His ego has prevented Xhekaj from becoming Chris Pronger reborn and Sammy Blais from being Peter Forsberg!!!!!11!!!!!! /s

What you're suggesting is a hail Mary, that's not coaching adjustments all due respect.

Other than vibes, what was Arber Xhekaj and/or Brendan Gallagher going to bring to the lineup against this Canes team?

Why do you think year in, year out, the Panthers always beat the Canes? Cause they f***ing bash their brains in! So for sure Gally and esp. Arber would have helped when guys like Walker crashed into Dobes and Carrier was head hunting Hutson. Both X brothers should have been in by Game 3.

Having the best two way forward in the game, incredible forward depth, the ability to score a lot of goals, good defending might also be a factor, potentially?

Ok -- your position is that it was impossible for the Habs to beat the Canes, and therefore MSL should not make any adjustments.

They did not hire him for the playoffs. HE said he would not return after the playoffs. I said this: They must be happy he is not returning. Maybe you should learn how to read.

Also yep I will call any coaches that refuse to make changes as egomaniac. As both Marty and Torto were in these playoffs and it was their demise.

Your whole angry omnipotent hockey vibe is kind of silly. Unless you're Scotty Bowman maybe just accept that you aren't an arbiter of truth and professional coaches who've spent their life around the game and coach teams to quite successful outputs might know a thing or two. Marty has grown as a coach quite a bit, that comes from listening and taking input.

Florida have great players but Vegas had great players as well. Difference was they didn't have that dog in the fight that Florida has had. They go beyond the Canes' tight system and they literally abuse them with f***ing barbarian style. It was crazy the last time they met. Panthers almost played like the 70s Flyers.

In general, it can be valid for a commoner to criticize the decision of a professional.

For example, have you ever critiqued the policy decisions of politicians? The writing choices of Hollywood studios? Have you ever said the food in a restaurant had too much salt?

By your own logic, you're not allowed to do that.

There's a big difference, a HUGE one between what the Panthers did with the players they had and what Gallagher and Xhekaj could bring with their combined 10 mins of ice time.

The Habs aren't the Panthers, not even with Gallagher and Xhekaj, all due respect.

Sure, but if I do it from a position of angry with no chance of listening to why my take could potentially be wrong that's just silly. I'm not informed relative to those people so why pretend I know it to any kind of degree they would. I'm also not saying I'm perfect and I absolutely deserve to be called out too when I'm going off on a tangent lol
