  • Congrats to our latest Sportsbook winners - GOLD MEDAL kihei, SILVER MEDAL fish7 and BRONZE MEDAL Sammy Kat - new tournament begins today 6/15
To Anaheim: Oliver Kapanen, Alex Carrier, David Reinbacher, 2026 1st

To Montreal: Mason McTavish and Tristan Luneau

Habs get their second line center and a nice right hand shot defenseman prospect that’s NHL ready.

Ducks get a replacement center at a huge cap savings, a veteran right hand shot defenseman, a prospect right hand shot defender and a 1st.

Fair for both teams?
Holy overpayment.

MacTavish is a distressed asset with his contract.

I am!

Why was Caufield not removed from Suzuki's line when he was generating next to nothing? Put him on the 2nd line where he might get more favorable defensive match-up's and let Demidov play on the top line in his place. I'd have at least tried it when it became clear that 13 and 14 weren't working out.

I think that removing Caulfield from the first line could have helped.

I'm honestly perplexed by the position that the Habs were guaranteed to lose and thus MSL should not make changes.

Hi! How is life? Me can be better, but hanging in there. I read that Rickard Rakell maybe being available from Pittsburgh, would he be a good alternative for the winger that the Canadiens needs, in the interim the prospects develop in a good steady pace, Mr Rakell is not very physical though, even though He is 6 feet 1 inch and 194 pounds, He played 60 games last year with 48 points and 8 minutes of penalties, in all of His career He amassed in 862 games 260 goals and 307 assists with 567 points and 180 minutes of penalties, but He is a good veteran, but do You think, He would be a good match with Ivan Demidov? But He is a bit too old I think, He just had His 33rd birthday on May 5. He seems to not create any bad waves in the team. I do not say, that He should be, plan A, but maybe plan b or c. I do not know what the Penguins would ask in return though. Anyway, take good care all of You and be safe, and please be careful everywhere.

I'm more of the position that I think they needed their best players to be their best players, if at any point that series felt close, maybe some changes would have been warranted...

But it never felt close, even in the games they went to OT. It was glaring to watch a team that played with so much puck control, virtually play an entire series chasing the puck.

List of hypothetical suggestions, that are irrelevant because we don't have a parallel universe machine.

Replace Struble with Xhekaj.
Replace Veleno with Beck.
Replace injured Dobson with Engstrom, the third pair of Xhekaj-Engstrom would only play ten minutes.
Place Caulfield on the second line. Try a top six of

Anderson-Suzuki-Newhook
Slafkovsky-Evans-Caulfield

It couldn't have been worse. I'm honestly perplexed by the argument that the Habs were guaranteed to lose.

If you are guaranteed to lose then you have nothing to lose.

Gallagher and Xhekaj should have played.

Rumored that Marchenko might be available. Habs already have Caufield and Demidov at rw, What would they do with Marchenko?

Doesn't Demidov play both LW and RW? He is a left hand playing on his offside. Technically with a guy like Marchenko on the other wing, being on your natural side is better to throw passes to someone driving the net hard. I know he likes to open up on the blue line and it's easier to do on his offside but he has more than enough talent to beat a dman on both side even if he'll get push to the outside more often, he's good enough of a passer to find the scene while baiting the dman towards him and if there's not there's always always the option to shift down low and wait for the 2nd wave to come in and re-evaluate the options coming to support.

Do you throw the same package that we did with Knies tho? The contract situation isn't the same at all

They would have only need a favorable call on Caufield offside. (I know it was the good call)

I don't believe that Carolina is a vastly superior team to the Habs. I think that the Habs won 3 of 3 in the regular season.

It may have been injuries. But in my opinion, if players are too injured to play, maybe they shouldn't be playing. Dobson was pretty bad for example. Maybe he just shouldn't have played.

I’ve read Habs’ D is still on the learning curve of a defensive system no one here seems to like.

I know I don’t like it. Maybe it looks better with better players back there? - shrug -

Anyway, on the other side was a good core of players who have played Brindy hockey for years, and some newer ‘Canes who fit in nicely.

And they were rested and healthy.

Tall order. Too tall.

When X scored, we expected he would be benched or scratched. If he played well, somehow he played less.

PeeWee does not want to lose control of the narrative that he is master of his domain and can do whatever he wants with impunity. X was his yoyo as proof of his control.

When Dobes was hunted...X did nothing but seeth. When little Taylor Hall ran Hutson, PeeWee kept X out of the lineup.

So who exactly is the problem here? PeeWee with a huge mirror licking ego or X schackled or marginalized?

It would be comical to see it at another team...but here we are.

I cannot understand how the players on this team would respect a coach like that who refuse to do any pushbacks when your best players are getting slaughtered. It's pathetic and disgusting, really. His ego refushed to make changes for 4 straight games! That's why he should have been fired. People are like "yea but we went to the Conference finals". Look Torto is not returning to Vegas even after he went to the finals and because he was a complete idiot in the series, Vegas is probably happy he is leaving. He too had the stubborn idea to not make changes after poor results.
