His compete and overall game are undoubtedly better than Dach's, but at the end of the day, he's getting paid over twice as much and hasn't really produced much outside of one season.

Dach/Newhook+something that isn't too expensive would be fine, but I'm not adding multiple assets for him.

Hughes needs to steer clear from these types of projects unless it's a hockey trade, we've already gotten burned by giving up assets for Dach and Newhook even if Dach was also technically a hockey trade.

He likely won't be traded, but I'd give up an arm and a leg for Tage Thompson. I doubt he's happy there.
Cozens is having a bad year but he’s on a real stinky team.

If it’s Dach+Mailloux or whatever I think that’s a good gamble (and one we can afford) but you’re right his cap hit seems just too high for his production.

If it's only for Dach + Newhook + Mailloux, let's say, I doN,y know if I wouldn't gamble on Cozens.

7.1M is only a 2.367M buyout.

In three years, nobody will notice. If you can't ice a good team with 11.133M instead of 113.5M, you're not a great GM.

In three years, at worst, Cozens replaces Gallagher as an albatross contract we carry.

Cozens is 6'3" and roughly 190 lbs. He's not afraid to use his size either (not particularly soft or a scaredy cat). I'd be willing to bet he can at least be a 2nd line winger and replace half of the goals we only dream that Laine can produce.

At best, he rediscovers being a 30-goal, 60+ point 2C. That would be cool as well.

Cozens has not been plagued by injuries either...

I'd love to get a really good 2c to center Demidov and Laine, and then have Newhook - Dach - Anderson.

But not sure we can get such a 2c without giving up Dach...

A 2c that HuGo think is the real deal, I would expect would cost a lot. But better to spend a lot for the real deal than something mediocre.
If we can get a really good C, Dach certainly won't be the one stopping me from making the trade. Newhook, I'd throw in for free and hold a coupon scratcher for Anderson, or Gallagher, if they want.

He got beaten up last season against the flyers, had a broken jaw iirc.

My favourite memory of Buffalo is Lyle Odelein intentionally shooting the puck at their bench when they were out of the playoffs and were trying to hurt guys. I hated them. Rob Ray, Brad May, Matthew Barnaby, Gord Donnelly. They were cheap and dirty. Wasn’t a fan of Hasek either. Or the city itself which was also cheap and dirty.

But yeah, I’d take on Cozens but not for a crazy package.

Odelein... I will always remember that game he scored a hat trick. At the end of the game he was looking like he got 60 teeth in his mouth smiling even bigger than usually.
Hasek... There was Roy with the butterfly, Brodeur with the positioning athletic style and there was Hasek, goaling from sounds

I meant Lyle quite a few years back went to school with a good friend of mine
It sure pissed away his career that half of his money on booze

Is there a center out there that we're not noticing that Kent could try and get
What about Matty Beniers?

22 year old center with good size who signed a big long term contract but he still hasn’t taken that next step

No clue if Seattle is down on him or not but maybe they are looking to shake things up.

I'd rather him joins the Bruins, so we can pound his carcass into the boards season long.

I have nothing against his skill set, however the latest spat just makes him look like a soft Prima donna.
EP40 seems cooked. Acquiring him should come as a cap dump and cap burden exchange.

Gallagher for EP40++

Nobody wants a soft, seemingly perpetually injured 60pt forward with a 11,6m cap hit.

Am I the only one here who thinks Mailloux skating stinks? He got a good shot, good physicallity but his skating stinks. It might hold him off the big league.

If we can use Dach, Mailloux and a pick to get a good second line player or a solid RHD, we should pull the trigger IMO.

I'm not advocating to trade for him but he missed 6 games this year and 4 games in total in the previous 4 years combined. How is that "perpetually injured"? He's having a down year but he put up 89 and 102 points the last 2 years. He's not a 60 pts player.
