Being really generous, Armia AND Savard might both land us a 2nd round pick to go with the two 2nd round picks and the two 1st round picks we already have.
Add to that another potential 1st round pick for Evans and we are sitting pretty at the 2025 draft!
As far as Dvorak goes, there might not even be a team willing to take him on, period, not even for a late pick?
We are currently sitting at 13th OA, but are only 5 points up on 8 teams leapfrogging us, selecting 5th OA again!
That's harder than it sounds because a lot of the teams behind us will also be playing each other, but we could conceivably end up picking 10th before the lottery results for the 2025 draft, because there are 6 teams no more than 3 points away from us, including the NYIs who have the same points, but less regulation wins than us.
It would take only 3 of those 6 teams surpassing us for us to pick 10th OA before the lottery. Odds are good of that happening considering that we lost Guhle for the rest of the season and that Dach, Laine and Hutson are all petering out because of the lack of conditioning that stems from not playing this many games in a long time, if ever, in the case of Hutson.
I think that packaging our own 10th OA, the pick we end up with from Cal and one or two of our four 2nd rounders should at least get us to 7th OA.
That would still leave us with a late 1st rounder and two 2nd rounders, plus three 3rd rounders and two 4th rounders, before our 5th, 6th and 7th rounders.
That, on its own, would make for a decent draft -- and that's before considering that our other first round pick would now be 7th OA, in the territory to perhaps select a Ryabkin or a Carter Bear, but definitely a Desnoyers as a C, if nothing else.
