I wonder if Montreal is also on the horn, offering Justin Barron (Morgan’s brother). Justin didn’t have a great year in Montreal and his stock has fallen since his 25th overall selection in 2020.

I thought there was talk around Montreal’s 1st for McGroarty but when Hage was available at 21 those trade talks stopped.
It was a few people here and in YouTube I may have been talking out of my ass. I thought it was as an actual legit Kent story. That would be twice in 20 years I may have jumped the gun on a rumour and talked out of my ass if this is there was no legit source :(

Probably @OldCraig71 tricked me into another rumour. That guy is sus :(

There is no need to trade Gallagher, he’s had a solid rebound season on pace for 20G, and with the cap set to skyrocket and the core minus Hutson locked up, cap space over next 2-seasons isn’t a big deal.

Over course of next 80-100 GP, if all progresses steadily, Heineken will likely displace Gallagher on a 3rd line w Gally slotting down, and potentially being dealt the last year of his contract
It's not so much we have to trade him but more he is the one where we could see the biggest upgrade.

On the trade board there was a speculation thread that there was an offer of:

To MTL:
McGroarty

To WPG:
Filip Mesar
2025 1st (FLO/CGY)
Justin Barron or Jordan Harris

But that thread got locked pretty quickly.

Probably my bad on that trade rumour then. :(
I got it from here originally, I hate this guy

Not that I disagree, but we'd have to trade one of Caufield/Slaf/Demidov/Laine.
Laine is the easy choice, but Slaf's extension is looking like a terrible mistake.

lol they didn’t fleece the Canes. They traded one of the best wingers in the league for a guy that has cooled off considerably and is a UFA himself after next season.

Simple rules of trades - the team that gets the best player is more often than not the winner.
Mikko is UFA and I highly doubt he re-signs in Carolina.

The Avs struck gold again. They fleeced the Canes solid. Mikko/Hall are impending UFAs, with no guarantees of them signing long term. They basically sold their best player, who has blossomed, for an impending top tier UFA. Way to go.
That smells as owner interference and wanted to win now

it's not bad, they received Necas, who is a 1st line player. They're not rebuilding and the gap between Necas and Rantanen isn't huge when you factor in the price Rantanen will cost. It's clear overpaying for a handful of guys isn't the direction colorado wanted to go. You got to choose and Necas is a downgrade but still a solid player. I think this trade makes sense if they're looking for another d man in their top 4.
The other angle how good will necas look with the Ava 2 stars ??

I mean… why would you call your helmet brand that… thats just inappropriate

Just fooling around here.

But what about Laine and the Canes wants to team up to play with Aho and Rantanen.
This would be a crazy first line.

Laine - Aho = Rantanen (Finland kick ass line)

MTL : Laine (50% retained) + Armia + Kapanen (All finland)
for
Canes : Seth Jarvis
