totally agreeI like him too but let's not pretend he is a surefire prospect. He's not and he could very well never reach his ceiling.
he is not a surefire #1 line guy or even #2
but I do like him, time will tell

There is no hurry to make the playoff this year, we just want to see progression. And I don’t think it’s a good idea to give many asset for Andersson without knowing his contract intentions
To be fair, Rasmus Andersson is not a rumour, it's just speculation. There's no specific names mentionned in D'Amico's article.I'm not going to give one person the benefit of the doubt when they've been wrong in the past and not the other just because they were more vague (didn't say what the cost would be) and their proposal was more palatable to me. That's literally wishful thinking.
Of course Eklund's rumour is ridiculous (and worse than the Andersson rumour). But Montreal trying to trade for a likely costly D-man with two years of control in September is pretty farfetched too.
That's the point though. For the biggest hole to be able to be filled by a guy like Andersson, we need a whole lot more certainty than potential, room to grow and relying on improvements. By that same measure Montreal can hope that their potential at RD can bridge the gap this season.
The goal this season is to be more competitive, ideally past the deadline. Its not to make the playoffs. Montreal needs to
As for biggest hole, its either #1 D, which Andersson does not address, or if we're relying on potential, then #2 center. Dach missed almost all of last season and wasn't a full time center before that. If he doesn't work out then Montreal does not have potential fix for a #2 C. Montreal's got a number of young D that have the potential to have an impact.
Especially now that we have him on a very reasonable long term deal. That would the dumbest thing ever.I wouldn't trade Suzuki for Perfetti (benched him in the playoffs) AND Ehlers (asked for a trade) combined, Much less adding to that deal.
Chevy is a known hard negotiator and asks for the moon. Doubt this has any veracity to it considering the source, other then the Habs possibly asking about those players.
Yes Zegras would be a good add. Habs need another centre for the immediate term. As you say he would cost a potential core piece, likely a d, that they can't afford to move yet.I would not mind trading for Zegras, but not if we have to give up a core piece for him, I'm not interested in sideways moves.
no way KH moves his capt. no wayI wouldn't trade Suzuki for Perfetti (benched him in the playoffs) AND Ehlers (asked for a trade) combined, Much less adding to that deal.

Yes......laugh alright....Just to make you laugh today, here is Eck's rumoured trade that he just posted, its a e4 btw:
Perfetti, Nikolaj Ehlers and a pick to the Canadiens for Nick Suzuki
Crazy that we got Laine attached with what looks like will be an early 2nd. That early 2nd is a nice asset for Hughes to go to work with.I would not mind trading for Zegras, but not if we have to give up a core piece for him, I'm not interested in sideways moves.
CLOWN more like itYes......laugh alright....
Eck as in The Eklund guy?? Rumor monger supreme guy??
Ew.For Ehlers as a rental. Florida's first and one of Engstrom or KapKapanen.
Why do we do that? For Ehlers as a rental. Florida's first and one of Engstrom or Kapanen?
How about no Ehlers? For Ehlers as a rental. Florida's first and one of Engstrom or Kapanen?
Excellent mix, imagine if we had Matheson instead of Xhekaj.I’d see the future pairings as:
Guhle - Trethewey
Hutson - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Mailloux
That’s an excellent mix of talent, speed, power and hockey talent, mixed in with some general nastiness. A daunting group to play against come playoff time.
Ew.
Ehlers is another smaller, often injured players who disappears in the playoffs, so why ?
Why do we do that?
We're not contending. Why waste assets for nothing.
I think it would cost a lot to get him, he'll get an expensive contract at 30 years old, and it would mean Mailloux is likely gone. I like the player, but there's no rush to add someone like him.Rasmus Andersson would be great
Marco seems one of the best ones. Nobody perfect though.Yeah, you're not wrong about that.
I remember when he wrote that the Habs were gonna take Wright, according to a ''league executive''.
He'd just wrote a couple of days earlier that the Habs were very secretive about who they were gonna pick (and rightly so), so someone challenged him about the contradiction.
He didn't like it at all...lol. His colleague (or boss?) at the time, Jimmy Murphy, didn't like it either and came to his defence. They said they were very confident about their source. I'm guessing that ''info'' came from Murphy.
But still, he was just a rookie at the time, so i'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this latest article.
Maybe because i think it makes sense and it's something other people around the NHL would know if they had discussions with the Habs about it.
Gorton said this week that he's greedy and always looking to make the team better ASAP. So there's that also.
We were close to Zegras at Draft. Hughes could make another run next draft. He's Caufield best friend. Habs have multiple picks. With 20 million coming off cap next summer. Laine was plan C. Doubt he's here more than 2 years. Unless he stands on his head. Big money to lock up long term with his history.I don’t think this was posted yet? Sorry for double post if yes. Just gonna copy/paste from the Ducks board.
Pagnotta talking many players but what he said about Zegras was most interesting. Said “it’s no secret he wouldn’t mind a change of scenery”. Ends it by saying if a deal doesn’t happen at the deadline, look for it in the summer, “unless he has a change of heart about wanting to stay in Anaheim long term”
Marco ? I can't state what he wrote about, but I've read a few proposals from him that I remember were just horrible and thought man this guy has no clue. Don't think I have ever liked anything he had written.Marco doesn't have any sources.
But Rasmus Andersson should be someone we keep checking in on.
