soldGallagher for Petersson, E5.
What would you give for JT Miller because he's the one that is most likely to move.
They wouldn’t. Unless they wanted to rebuild. My deal gives them 2 sure fire NHL centers + a few magic beans.
very well and matheson with the right amount of duties and ice time, is a very needed player for now.I'd be very worried about trading Matheson in such a deal. We just saw how much a difference Carrier vs Barron had on the team. Trading Matheson more then undos all that improvement and I'm not sure EP can counteract it because playing in your own end due to a lack of quality D hurts forwards the most.
I know it was my suggestion but it was still really Dach, and essentially two 1st which is more reasonable.Gallagher for Petersson, E5.
Yes, i should have remembered the exact package you offered with the multiple multiple iterations you gave.
I'm pretty sure there were 4 pieces. 2 being Calgary's 1st and Struble for sure. I think the 3rd was Beck or Roy but maybe i'm wrong on that.
I told you that offer was way way too generous because Laine had negative value at full salary, but you kept trucking along.
You can go back and check on that if you want.
Did i predict the exact trade that happened or even that Hugues would pull it off?
Of course not, but i knew it wouldn't take much, if at all, given the circumstances.
I thought Columbus would have retained half and get a better return since they were at the cap floor. But it turns out the owners didn't want to retain. That was difficult to know.
But no, i wasn't surprised by the return.
Just because you were, don't assume everybody else was too.
Waddell got that return because that was the best he could get.
Kent Hugues is not some kind of genius for making that trade.
That was just Laine's market value.
You took a jab at some fans who were sceptical of the Laine acquisition ( i was not one of them, by the way ), so i'm just taking a little jab back.
I guess the point is to make you aware that you just have a tendency to give too much in your offers.

Anyways odds are it's a trade with the NYR, they have the capspace and can offer more immediately useful player(s) in return.

I would only point out Eichel was acquired for Krebs + Tuch + 1st + 2nd rounder
Unless it’s a healthy McDavid being dealt, cap hit factor limits teams ability to acquire a player, let alone underperformance, thus driving down acquisition cost
There’s only a handful # of teams able to acquire EP, and even fewer willing & able to surender assets usually being sought re: NHL ready ELC / 2nd contract types.
Then there’s EPs NMC factor which kicks in July 1st for those seeking a potential way out in the future…
Honestly no I don't care, nor would it even be all that relevant since I don't follow them all that closely. They are just a team with capspace, want to make a big move, and have a history of big, and teams generally prefer to trade disgruntled stars for other stars, and in most cases only take the packages of picks and players because nothing else is actually available. So they are the most likely result.Care to list any Rangers offer that would make sense?

I don't see why they would care about age, both teams are trying to win now, 31 still very much fits in with their core. On top of which it's just as likely that the player traded is Miller who is 31 so the age changes nothing for either team.Rangers cap space will disappear next year when Shesterkin's and Lafrenier's new contracts kicks in. Multiple RFA's to extend as well and finding a back-up goalie.
The only way the Rangers have cap space is if one (or two) of these guys are in the trade:
* Zibby (Full NMC)
* Kreider (15 team NTC)
* Lafreniere
* Panarin (UFA after next year)
* Trocheck (12 team NTC... starting July)
Don't see the Canucks buying into Zibby from age 31-37 and also don't see Zibby waiving for Vancouver. Possible that Trocheck is in the package because he is a center that the Canucks need but more adds are required
Rangers want to make moves but the players they want to move will create problems in a EP type trade. Trocheck and Kreider might be the best the Rangers can offer but both are 31/33. I don't see the Canucks wanting to get older. I also don't think the Rangers want to trade Lafreniere either
I don't see the Rangers as a good fit at all.

Anyways like I said I don't really care about the NYR so I'll leave it be.
Vinny Trocheck + Schneider + 1st?
It's not just the cap, it's giving up a bunch of assets for an unnecessary luxury. We're on a good path right now and with Laine in the mix, IMO Hughes shouldnt be chasing EPThere is plenty of room to sign Laine, Demidov and Hutson and still fit EP in. If cap space is the reason not to trade for EP, I don't agree with the narrative.
* Savard, Armia, Dvorak, Matheson, Gallagher, Anderson = $28.23M
* Price = 10.5M (we didn't need his contract on LTIR to start the season)
* Cap will grow from $88M to $95M+ by the time Laine and Demidov needs raises. That's another $7M more (min)
That's $45.73M freed up in 2 more seasons. Yeah, Guhle, Slaf, and Hutson to get raises as well and even when you add Demidov and Laine, it still fits easily.
Habs are in a great salary cap situation and if we can trade for EP or anybody with a talent like that, we should. He fits the core age around Suzuki to Demidov and this should be our strategy. Adding pieces around Suzuki age or in between Suzuki/Demidov.
Woah, unnecessary luxury? We have no 2nd C. Not saying I agree with the prices stated in here, but to say it's a luxury is way off.It's not just the cap, it's giving up a bunch of assets for an unnecessary luxury. Never said Dach was the answer, just that internally we have players like Hage who we shouldn't be dealing before they hit the NHL.If Dach is not able to handle the 2C role, there is no way we should just stay put when a talent like EP could be available.
Hate saying it but the same thing was said about Laine but fans are happy today. Lots of comments like Laine should be kept away from this team last summer. There were plenty of fans who were very aggressive saying those things too. Funny that those type of fans hide in the shadows today and won't admit their oversight.
EP is a Unnecessary luxury?
Hughes will make trades if it don't touch our core but improves our team. That I am sure of.
Nothing concrete until HockeyInsiderrrr confirms from his mom’s basement.sold
thanks ECK
Confirmed, I am Elias PetterssonGallagher for Petersson, E5.
Canucks beat reporter Rick DhaliwalWho is Dhali?
The Dach situation is the issue. Hugo has to know whether or not Dach will become a 2C by now. If not, then acquiring a 1C in EP at the same age as Suzuki would solidify our top 6 for years (overnight).If Dach is not able to handle the 2C role, there is no way we should just stay put when a talent like EP could be available.
