Why are you speaking in generalities? Demidov speaks English. And the argument implied russians are more suceptible to falling into vices than other nationalities. Otherwise, as has been already pointed out, we would be getting senior players of every nationality for corresponding high draft picks. The poster made an association between kostitsyns (not russians) and some issue Demidov might have. It was silly and poster should just admit it.
As I stated the language issue has been predominant with Russian / Belarusian (Kostitsyn) nationals - see Michkov this year.

How do you know Demidov understands or doesn’t understand coaching directions in English? Based on tik-tok? Because I’m in no position to say either way but I’m quite sure Habs org will know intimately and do the appropriate thing

Dear lord no...,haven’t we learned our lesson?

It’s no coincidence he’s playing better in his contract year- he did the same last time

Time to move on...he’s been given enough chances here
He's been great, but his cap hit is too high. If we could get that down we should re-sign him. It's good to have another Fin on the team for Laine. And YoWell is liked in the room. He's a good vet to keep around at the right price.

Because I saw him interviewed a few times in English. I assume he has some basic comprehension. I don't know why the standard of coaching instructions has been introduced as that was never the discussion and to my eyes is the least complicated part of the issue.

Generally speaking, we are in a far more accessible universe than 20 years ago when it comes to translation tools, getting around, and being aware of other nationalities via global social media.

They should claim Puljujarvi off of waivers if possible! Only 800k cap hit. He's reliable defensively and could be good for our bottom 6. Maybe another Fin friend for Laine

Still remember that Laine-Aho-Puljujarvi line they had in the 15-16 WJC, they were monsters on the ice. Maybe it'd rekindle something inside Puljujarvi to play again with Laine, who knows.

But, it was nearly 9 years ago, and Puljujarvi still doesn't seem to understand what he has to do to stick in the NHL, so yeah, unless they want to try something ala Gurianov, not sure about that.

Any player, regardless of language should have a mentor to either live with or learn from in the NHL at 18 or 19, ESPECIALLY if they are coming from another country.

At the end of the day when you're a young, rich, and famous you don't have to go seeking out the seedy elements, they will seek you out. So whether you're un gars de chez nous or from another country is irrelevant, a good mentor is going to be important.

If he’s willing to sign for 2.5m I’d think about it, if not and he can fetch a 2nd rounder somewhere I’d trade him. He’s rolling at 0.5 ppg, he’s physical, great on the PK, was amazing in the playoffs when we had our run, I think teams would call on him no doubt

See the difference Carrier is doing defensively ? Now add another top4 RD instead of Matheson and see the transformation on GA.

Anyone interest in Connor Murphy if Rasmus is not available ?

Well I'm not sure how good Sidney Crosbys English was coming from Nova Scotia, or if he had a proclivity for various degenerate vices, but Mario " suggested " to him to come live with him and his family after the Pens drafted Sid the Kid, and it wasn't a question.

I have no issue bubble wrapping every one of our top picks/ prospects and having them wear a body cam with a tracking device, though I'm thinking various employment and possible criminal laws would be violated.

Why the actual f*** would we claim Poolparty? He'd serve no purpose other than to fight with Heineman for icetime.
Because the kids made a secret agreement in 2016; "If 2 of us are in the same NHL team, then the 3rd of us will demand for a trade to join them".

I mean getting Aho to join them would only cost us our full 1st line but it would so be worth it, they would break all possible NHL records together, just look at this:

Would be fun to watch Puljujarvi eat pizza slices like a cow, with his mouth open and the empty gaze reminiscent of a Rene Bourque.

I thought about Murphy as our target but he's been slower than Savard so far this year. Not a good look

The reality is of all the major hockey nations, Russian / Belarusian players have the least English language skills historically compared to Scandinavians, Slovaks, Czech players etc

Let’s keep in mind the Habs co-Dir of Amateur Scouting is a Russian National (carries Russian passport), so if anyone is aware of what it takes Bobrov would
Profiling here.
Doing the same kind of comment, i would say that the least English language skilled people are the English people themselves. It takes them 25-30 years to learn something else than "f***, f*** you, f***ing, f***ed and bitch":jk:

I don't think Ovechkin had any Russians on the team in his rookie season and he was fine. Demidov has some charisma he'll be fine.

Haha btw Ive only been a Habs fan since Saturday and Im already referring to the team as "our team", is that too soon? I sure as heck hope not, our boys need all the support they can get!
It isn't too soon. You just need to find another formula when they play bad. It's like a father talking about his son;

a) when his son's doing something good, dad will say "MY son is doing good" to his wife.
b) when his son's doing something bad, dad will say "YOUR son is doing bad" to his wife.

What IF Hughes trip was also to take a close look at Nikishin? What can of trade could we get with the Canes to grab him. Matheson for Nikishin straight up?
