It’s about credibility - The Fourth Period is run by Pagnotta and Bernstein one of the crew, like saying TSN is credible because of the likes of Bobby Mac vs Eklund…
Fair enough, but I do remember instances of the Fourth Period embellishing their rumors to generate interest. Exact same infuriating practice done by Eklund. They may have improved, or they may have clumsy moments from time to time, but It doesn't remove the stains entirely.

I was only replying to “he isn't an insider to any team“ …. Bernstein is very plugged into LAK, I suspect it’s Robitaille who’s his snitch & Brisson when it serves the agents purpose

Here's the thing even though there may be a connection it doesn't prevent The Fourth Period from marketing the rumor to generate traffic. That's the reason I look down on Pagnotta, in a very untrustworthy manner. He has something to gain in generating a narrative that isn't so.

But Pagnotta’s inching his way into mainstream broadcasting (SN / TSN) which the likes of Eklund never get a shot at - which is why one would expect Pagnotta would think twice of ever jeopardizing his career opportunity by making s*it up….

Don't know anything about it, but if that's the case and The Fourth Period is on-boarded in a way they do not necessarily need to sell rumors to survive, I'll listen.

Cozens? He would end up begin another gamble. They'll need to cut a line between their rebuild and their "In the mix" stage. Getting Cozens just does draw that line.

Dylan Cozens is a Buffalo Sabre who showed tons of early promise, has stagnated, and now his value is at an all time low to the point rumors suggest the Sabres might be willing to offload him.

That sounds very familiar.

But to me it’s clear since the laine injury they did not want to contend nor be in the mix .
Hugo are sharp , can you tell me why if they really meant to be in the mix they would keep a goalie like primeau on the team
It's very clear.

I'm sure they had plans to be competitive, but after the shit start, they decided to let the team burn to the ground for one more year.

You don't sit on your hands all this time while Habs are playing like ass if you're trying to be competitive

What were they going to do? No one was going to trade a scoring line forward at the beginning of the season and they were not going to give up significant assets for a fill in this early in the rebuild.

You do something.

Rags traded trouba
B's fired Montgomery
Avs trading for blackwood

Those are big boy teams I know but Habs wouldn't have had to do much to improve. Not even scoring forwards. Could have traded for stop gap bottom 6 help. A decent backup goalie. 1-2 trades would have been sufficient

Not saying that was right move but that's exactly why I think they decided to pivot. Otherwise what the hell did they mean when they said we will be in the mix this year?

That was before Laine went down. And anything other than adding a scoring line forward or a real impact player wasn't going to salvage this season.

Definitely wouldn't salvage the season no but it would improve the habs. Imagine we got deslaurier and a backup for example. That's some energy on the 4th line and a more reliable goalie. At least there you could say theyre trying. Would line up with their "in the mix" comments moreso than doing nothing
