If we retain, can we get a team to take potentially a flyer on Gally?

Having quite the year so far. I think he'd be willing to move to a team who had a shot at a cup. Could be wrong.
Why? Gallagher hardest worker on team, second in goals scored. Should be captain.

Habs are 6 million under cap without Laine's 9 million on LTIR. Caproom not an issue for Montreal

''should be captain''
because he scored 7 goals ?
Where was he in the last 3 years ? He was taking the laziest penalties , he legit was shouting at refs and making the team sink. Suddenly having a good 5 games stretch makes him the "hardest worker"?

The positive in his "stretch"so he can get some value for a trade .

Our captain has a 5 games coldstreak and we should remove his C lol.

Suzuki has been literally the offense of this team in the last years but somehow it's never enough for some.

because he scored 6 goals ? Bro was invisible for 2 years straight while Suzuki was carrying him , which Suzuki still does.

If Gallagher had such leadership perhaps the other vets would be playing like they wanna try
To be fair, as poor as they are skill wise, the Gallagher Evans Anderson line has been the hardest working line several times this season.

The captain is pacing for 90. Can't believe how dumb people are.

Hughes is doing incredibly well in Laval, and Dobes was hurt for little bit, which is why Hughes played more.

I'd wait until we have more clarity as to how Dobes is health-wise before making any moves to call-up Huhges.

If we start to turn a corner in the next 5-7 games and Dobes' health holds up, then maybe we could do as you've said.

Not only that, but if Primeau continues to suck, I would actually get him to go through waivers and send him down to back Dobes while calling-up Hughes.
My point is we can audition Hughes without having to demote/waive anyone due to having only 22 on the roster.

In a 14 day period, Hughes could play 2 for Montreal and 2 for Laval, while Dobes plays 4 for Laval. No need to p;lay an ECHL goalie in L:aval, and no need to make the waiver decision before trying out Hughes.

I say Hughes over Dobes due to Dobes needing to play a lot at his age, so I don't think he is the first candidate to stick with the big club as a backup.

To be fair, as poor as they are skill wise, the Gallagher Evans Anderson line has been the hardest working line several times this season.

Don't look now but Dvorak is a step faster than last year and contributing to that new third line. Too bad he misplaced his faceoff magic so far this year.

I was at the game yesterday and noticed Dubas, Conroy and Guerin in the private booths. I can only speculate on who they were there to see.

f*** them. Unless it is to discuss Crosby. I want him as the ultimate veteran and mentor for our rebuild.

Imagine Demidov playing with him for his ELC.

Imagine what Crosby would do for our young guys.

Penguins in fire sale mode.

I would take a look at Beauvillier, Eller, Rakell, O'Connor. Pettersson would be super interesting as well.

Cap hit on Rakell sucks though

I certainly would not be surprised if we did at least make an attempt at Letang FWIW, maybe Bunting or even Eller too. Does not mean we'll actually pull the trigger on it, but HuGo would explore it. Lots of money involved though, they'd have to be creative about it, probably flip at least one vet, probably Dvorak.

At what point does the Letang conversation pick up again? We need the veteran D, the Pens are going nowhere fast.
We need vet D who can defend. Matheson never was the man and Savard cannot do it anymore as he is super slow.
Can we get Malkin from them? 2C and he can help Demidov next season :)

Some solid options there. A shame that their more interesting veteran options come with horrendous contracts and the rest come with the rental premium.

Eller has a reasonable cap it. He'd fit the team very well, would provide good leadership, and bring intensity in the bottom 6 at the centre position. A nice stop gap and upgrade over Dvorak.

Petterson is the most interesting player imo. Good vet on the backend. Much needed now that Savard has slowed down.
