Im fine with Hughes showing patience, but we need to get a C and a D as bandaids to protect the young kids. Getting someone who is completely average but better than evans as a 2C would really stabilize things.

I was listening to the post game show on 98.5 yesterday and Dubé and McGuire were saying that there were a lot of pro scouts following the Habs these days.
They singled out the Jets as one of the teams. Don't know who they'd be looking at though.

FWIW with these two, as always.

this none moves somewhat screams to me that they got to close to Barron and are too scared to move on from an asset they acquired. At this point, they arent ready to admit the mistake and are doubling down
The non moves to me screams to me that they doing. Exactly what they told us they are doing , tanking .
The in the mix was just a word to cover their track if laine explodes and dach is back to his top potential .

There is one to be picked very very high and they doing what they need to do to get him , don’t you think ?

I think they should have claimed Fabbro but at this point, the most concerning part of the team is Jake Evans as second line center

They really need to find a short term tweener to fill the role
What’s the point of that — finish 7th instead of 2nd? I don’t like the idea of expending assets that could hurt the rebuild but if a Monahan-like deal can be had, why not.

I’d rather they focus on having those players on the roster who are deemed integral to the future, getting as much TOI and exposure to tough game situations as possible.

More about protecting players and not have players regress. Move Slaf to second line, no one to play with. Dach as second center, he is drowning

More interchangeable parts that arent negatively affecting development. Someone like Dvorak i find sucks but also hurts development based off his dismissive, non professional type play

The Kovacevic cry-fest reminds me of the time people thought Jordie Benn was a diamond in the rough bargain bin stud #4-5 D after a stretch of a few months.

We all know how that aged.
6’5” 225 lbs 27 years old right handed dmen that had the best +\- last year and his now 4th in ice time, 1st in PK time, 1st in +\- on the Devils.

Not like this would help our team defense at all. We have 4 dmen that can still be sent to Laval or Matheson could have been traded for a great haul at the draft this past summer.

I don’t think trading Kovacevic when we did for a 4th round pick was the best decision.

I’m with you on Dach but not now. The guy is like any other player returning from major injury and having missed almost the entirety of last season. He needs to be brought along slowly, needs less responsibilities not more, at this still early stage of his comeback. I’d keep him on the wing and even on the third line, until he shows he can perform at pre-injury levels or, in the least, shows that he is able to take on a greater workload.

As long as Slaf is not hurt, he can start showing the confidence and form of the 2nd half of last season. Up to the coaching staff to put him in situations that bring out the best in him — sadly, there’s a massive tire fire around him so maybe as an inexperienced player, he’s impacted by that.

Dvorak is a useless putz other than the few times he is favored on faceoffs on account of his handedness. Thinking about the trade that brought him here hurts but not as much a that indelible, hideous image of him sporting a braided look while on vacation with teammates during the all-star break last season. 💀

His size meant absolutely nothing, Kovacevic was charmin soft.

It’s not about him changing out situations much, but more about Matheson having good value this past summer and keeping a physical right handed dmen costing less than 800K.

Not really.
He was not the most physical, but still was, he blocked shots, dropped the gloves a few times a years and could do well, but most importantly, he had size and reach.

I bet we would have received more than a 4th round pick at this year’s deadline.

Moslon will reimburse tickets holders for season?
The guy is a champ merchandiser/ entertainer/ businessman. He uses his show on BPM to promo his sports card store and lately, he's been running ads for a line of supplements branded as BGL (Big Georges Laraque).
