He's technically more attractive this year, since he wouldn't be a rental and his contract is cheap.

And next year, Habs don't want to be in a position to move bodies at the deadline (actually Suzuki is already tired of it).

Newhook is a basically Lehkonnen 2.0.. good to have in a playoff run as a depth player who can slot in wherever necessary for injuries.

Which is the the reality. He doesn't fit our core.. trade him btw now and TDL for a 1st rounder and a prospect back.

I'd trade for Frederick from Boston, then try and get Olivier. See what we can get for Savard and MM. Goon this season up, have some size for Demidov next year to say 'hi' if we need to. Target the underperforming teams for trades, or those who are contenders and may have an injury on the blueline in the near future. (Winnipeg etc)

Can't wait to get rid of Armia and Dvorak and get players here who care more than 2 nights a month

Frost has only played for incompetent coaches. I would trade for him but not for Newhook. Would have to be a cheap acquisition.

That seems very unlikely given our depth at LD.

By the time Matheson starts his next contract, he'll be firmly bottom pair on the left side...

I'd be in favor of a 2 year deal at what he's making now, but more term or cap it would be hard to justify unless all 3 of X, Strubble & Engstrom falter considerably in their progression
