How long did it take Caufield to get back on track, following his shoulder surgery?
We all know that players undergoing major surgeries followed by extensive time away from games are normally followed by lengthy periods of not being able to perform at pre-injury levels. The time it takes can vary based on individual circumstances. This is where Dach is at.
Dach is not playing like he showed 2 seasons ago. Hence, for me, drawing conclusions based on what he’s doing now, is premature and misleading — I’d rather wait and see how he reacts deeper into the season. I appreciate that others may not have the same level of patience.

He meant the year before the injury.Dach will be a really good player like he was then but it's going to take a bit more time for him to get the his speed back and especially the physical aspect of his game .He looks tentative .He will be fine.Take a look back at film the way he was before the injury .A player that has really regressed is Slaf .Don't know what's going on with him

Dach had 58 gp with 14g and 24a for 38pts.
I think he is tentative and hope he'll get it going but "really good player like he was then"... he was never a really good player in the NHL, it's all potential.
By the TDL we'll see where we are. If we're clearly out, no reason to keep him, just call up Mailloux or take on a warm body cap dump.
If we're in the mix, it depends on the offer and Mailloux's progression. Or if we can make a deal for a mid/long term solution.
There's a real possibility that we'll have a second line of Caufield-Evans-Laine which Evans would love. He's going to cash in with his next contract. As of now, he plays a pretty important role on that team and is a solid vet. Would you keep him? At what AAV would you let him go?
A 4 or 5 X 3 would be ideal, but this ship has sailed. I think he makes north of 4M and the contracts nets him over 20M

I'll try to do your lines with Laine pursuant to:
Slafkovský - Suzuki - Dach
Caufield - Evans - Laine
Anderson - Newhook - Gallagher
Heineman - Condotta - Armia
again, the third and fourth lines are according your comments because I am not specialist, the first because you wrote Dach is not an ideal center (don't know whether it is right, you know it better) and the second - Laine had great chemistry with Jenner, Roslovic, Nyquist, sniper Chinakhov if only 2021-23 seasons. Only with one playmaker - Johnson (played with him not too much games), but neither with Gaudreau nor Voráček. So I think Evans can be an ideal center for him. Btw, Patrik has very good defense, play without the puck. Maybe in Jets was bad, I am not watching this team, but not in Columbus if he was health. And he can be a good center.

With Armia gone this summer, Olivier makes a lot of sense especially since it is rumoured Hughes is looking for more sandpaper. Hughes was also Olivier's agent so they know each other very well.
He can shoot. He took a shot yesterday that you couldn't see. Nowhere near the net but hopefully that will come.
Who cares? It's early in his return. The only question is will he get over fear of getting injured again or will he never get over it and always be tentative.
Why? Because he is soft?
Gross, Zegras is turning into Drouin 2.0. Dach I have at least some hope of being a more fully engaged player.

No surprise. Barron will have to sit, so they can play Savard. D was fine without Savard for one game and looked noticeably more mobile.

I liked Jiricek in his draft year and he would fill a need, but I'm really wondering why Columbus has to trade him so soon. Headcase?
I wonder what Pascal Vincent has to say about him.

I would, yes.
Coveted right shot, lot of potential, still very raw and young. You'd be insulating yourself against Mailloux busting with this move. I can't think of a single RD in this upcoming draft that I'd take over Jiricek. Hensler would be closest and the offensive difference is a chasm.

If we drafted Jiricek, and his development was the same here, most here would want to be trading him too.

I'm curious what his former coach Pascal Vincent thinks.
All the excuses that were valid for Slafkovsky's slow start also apply to Jiricek -- and even more, he's a d-man adapting to a bunch of new angles given the rink size change. Also, the significantly higher rate of physical play in NA hockey vs European hockey. It takes some time.
If the 13OA was worth gambling on Dach, a similar such pick (or equivalent value) is worth gambling on a player whose prospect profile was or is comparable with Reinbacher's (even higher at the time of draft).

He's still 20, and they haven't exactly given him time to learn in the AHL. Seems like mismanagement to me. Looking at his hockeydb page is giving me whiplash with the constant yo-yo-ing.

Most complaining would be told to be patient until the player turns 25 and is traded away for a bag of pucks.
