Trevor Zegras......and I'm being serious.

If we look at last season and this season....they are really not far apart.
Newhook average 0.52pts per game
Zegras average 0.41pts per game
Both suffered from some injuries

They were both drafted in 2019, 7 spots apart, same age, about the same size

Of course because of Zegras' first 2 seasons, not talking one-on-one but we can easily afford to add picks/prospect.
Would you trade Newhook for Zegras even up?

The more i watch him the more i think he might not be a NHL player on a contending team. He's one of those guys that don't fit anywhere. Not good enough offensively for the top 6. Not enough grit and or size for the bottom 6. Not that great defensively. Not physical. Not hard to play against. Outside of his speed i don't see much qualities making him a solid top 9 nhler on a cup contending team.
He would be insane in the NLA with all that open ice

Trotz would be smart to start the rebuild right now, he could get a massive haul for the assets he just signed. We're talking 4-5-6 first rounders total.

5 Years down the road they'd have a team on the ups.

I'd be interested in Josi, Carrier, Forsberg, ROR, Sissons, Evangelista, Tomasino, Parssinen, , L'heureux, McCarron and Tommy Novak.

Then you get people to pay to drop terrible contracts on you and you're freaking golden.

I'm sure he wouldn't do it, though.

He's talking big, but I see no way the owners agree to it after the Stamkos/Marchessault/Skjei contracts with NMC/NTC.

At best, it would be a retool and even then I expect minor moves at most.

I only suggested Evans being moved because that's the trade rumour out there, and who teams are calling about. I'd keep him too, quite like how he's been playing

He's been solid, probably why teams are calling.
That's the rumor out there? From where? People have to stop reading the main board and the fan fiction there and pass it off as "rumors are out there".

Might as well convert him into a modern day Ryder, Halak and a 2nd package.

Newhook, Primeau and a 2nd as the default meme trade for the Maim Board.

I've never understood this meme, Ryder, Halak and a 2nd seems like a pretty solid package of value.

Halak was without doubt a #1 goalie, and Ryder a consistent productive goal scorer, a 2nd rounder never needs to be scoffed at.

David Jiricek has been a healthy scratch for 8 games this season.
I think last year he asked for a trade.

RD 6'4" 210lbs

Maybe Justin Barron, Filip Mesar?

Hutson Reinbacher
Guhle Jiricek
Xhekaj Mailloux

Ffs... you are coming on these boards in the most engaged team side, looking to pick up David Jiricek who was selected #5oa 2 years ago.. a RHD (rarity) and all you can offer is Barron (injury prone 6th D) and Mesar (injury prone midget firward with attitude problems).

Lets be real here.. you want Jiricek, theyre asking for Hutson.. and you know what - that's an NHL trade.. id do it, but you dont get Jiricek without a sting.

A player who isn't going to move the needle for a contender might be enough to stop the bleeding for us. A RD that drops Savard in the lineup would be a big upgrade. Aiming as high as Jiricek isn't needed.

Defence is such an interesting part of the lineup, because having only 6 players means the overall quality can swing up and down just with one decent net addition. Hughes needs to find a RD bandaid that wont strap us capwise. Not easy, far from impossible.

I'm just at a loss for where we go from here. I think we need a bonafide superstar. We are pushing everyone up the lineup when they should be pushed down a little bit.

In an ideal world our entire first line gets pushed down to the second line. I love our captain, but we need a 1st line centre who is even better. I love Caufield but he is so one dimensional, he belongs on a second line. I'm not sure how we are going to get a #1 centre. Maybe we win the lottery this year....maybe Hage hits huge. We need Demidov to be a 100+ point guy. We need to push mariginal players down to the third line. I realize this is the trade thread....I've got nothing to propose today, I just want something more for this team.

Laine - #1 centre - Demidov (need him to hit)
Slaf - Suzuki - Caufield
Newhook - Hage - Dach
Heinemen - Kapanen - Gally

Would you trade Reinbacher for Jordan Harris and one of their B prospect?

Jiricek only played 9:15 minutes in his last game. Habs don't need another RHD who can't play at the NHL level.

I think part of that is he isn't well thought of there.

He's a healthy scratch a lot and Cbus is just going about it so awkwardly

I would wager Jiricek would rather play in the AHL, especially on a good team than sparsely playing in the NHL

Jiricek asked for a trade last year because he was sent down to the AHL.
