I could see the potential for a VAN-NYR deal centered around a Miller-Kreider swap.

The Canucks would likely choose Petersson instead of Miller.
Miller was traded from NY a few years ago, I'll bet he doesn't want to go back to that mess.

Sorry but no way would I want this particular player at over 11 million per season...he is simply overpaid and that contract is already aging poorly
He's a PPG, no.1center coming off a 102 point year, whose had a slow start due to a LOT of drama on his team, and coming into his prime. $11,000,000 is not a lot given the contracts that will start to be given out in the years to come and EP has the talent and would have the line mates to get him back to the 100+ point pace. Depending on the cost, as usual, he'd be an amazing addition and the best player on the Habs and elevate the entire team with his play.

Suzuki is doing more with less...

11M$ becomes a 4M$ premium on our existing #1C.

At that salary & term, 100pt pace is the expectation, ppg would be a disappointment... EP is on pace for less than 70, and seems to have some issues with the Vancouver media/fan scrutiny.

& That's not even considering what kind of ransom the nucks would expect in return.

I'm all for opportunistic additions and taking calculated risks to add elite talent... And at his best, EP is an incredible talent. But imo the floor is too low and the inconsistency too high to make him a worthwhile target. Pass for me unless it's for pennies on the dollar. Let some othe franchise roll the dice if he does indeed get traded

This team with a 1-2 of EP and Suzuki would be a contender tandem. They have the cap, which is also rising. Getting a player of EPs caliber at that cap would be a steal, depending on the assets going back.

Oh, no doubt that adding EP makes any roster way better, and we'd certainly be far stronger with that duo... No argument there.

Unfortunately, the cap is a real constraint, and salaries do impact pressure & internal team dynamics. It's thos elements plus EPs visible discomfort with the Vancouver spotlight that strike me as big warning signs.

Not every star talent can shine brightly in a big market. That, more than the cap hit itself, is the concern & imo the added risk.

A lot of money plus Canucks will want a ton back. Just too much.

Take the money and take at run at Rantanen in off season. Or Kaprizov the next year.

If the Nucks supposedly rejected Necas, KK, 1st + one of Canes prospects for EP; it'd stand to reason the offer to pry him will be quite painful for whichever team is successful.

Not sure that Suzuki is doing more with less... he's not playing with a Caufield and Slafkovski. Pius Suter and Debrusk are not as good at all imo.

I don't know teams don't use the offer sheet more. Many deals out there. Hopefully Hughes sees the light

You should know why teams don't use offer sheets, but you should also know why Edmonton was the target of those offer sheets, and why they won't do anything about it.

I prefer Hughes keep seeing the light than seeing 'that' light.
