Players of such magnitude and talent are signed long term by their respective clubs before hitting free agency. Keep dreaming though. Stamkos was an exception yet older, but we all see how that turned in Nashville.

Please. You yourself were saying he might be even better than PLD just over a year ago.
Guy loses half his speed after missing a year and people wonder why he looks lazy. He looks like someone who lost half his speed and lost a year to injury. Like Caufield looked like a guy who's shot was off after a shoulder injury. The takes on this board this year have been brutal.

He is very lazy with horrendous decision-making leading to turnovers and penalties. That has been the case since the start of the year with no improvement. I'm very annoyed with the Caufield comparison because Caufield went from looking like a 1st liner to a 2nd liner. Dach went from a 2nd liner to the worst player on the team. But hey, I guess we can throw a parade that he can tie his own skates now nearly halfway into the season.
Gorton had no problem saying it to NYR media.. and they rebuilt through the draft and young talent.

In your first post you literally say Dach can become the team's best player. I don't care if the comparison annoys you. Coming off a shoulder injury 34 games into the season, Caufield wasn't even pacing for 20 goals. That's not a top 6 player when you're getting first line minutes+PP and are 5'7". For most teams that's a player you send down in the AHL. And what's with the exaggeration about throwing a parade ? Guy has lost half his speed and is behind the play as a player who relied on zone entries and his skating. Why would you not look at his skating and agility is improving ? It's quite literally the thing to look at.
In retrospect yes. Not at the time. He has the dominant 1C size and skill, and in junior was a beast - had potential to become a 1C but doesn't look like he will come close now.
