Not sure where to take this. With the salary cap going up by a quality 2nd/3rd liner (4.5M) this should be very interesting giving teams a bit of wiggle room to maybe keep/trade players.

This is the last year of dead caphit unless something else goes down (Anderson, Gallagher buyouts)

46.4M in 12 forwards
12.355M in 6 D (gotta sigh Xhekaj if not traded, thinking 4 years, 12M total)
4.04M in Goalies

Total including Xhekaj is 21 players making 62.795M. That's just under 25M in cap space.
Edit: mentioned it above but forgot about it here, 20M in cap space with the 2 dead cap salaries

No on Xhekaj contract. That takes him to being a UFA. Lets go 2 years $5M total.

not all that shocking, if the Habs want Zegras, which is a separate discussion I suppose (i’m not such a big fan) they're going to have to trade a player/prospect they'd rather not, or rather that many here wouldn't.

I think Hugues wants to trade for a more known commodity than Dach and Newhook were.

I think Farabee would make sense and would probably be cheaper to acquire than Necas.

His contract is pretty decent to.
