McGuire also went on to say he’d pick Iginla followed by Eiserman even if Demidov & Lidstrom were available
What does that have to do with something that was told to McGuire in confidence about Zegras?

I never qualified McGuire’s acumen as a draft specialist. However, he is in contact with a lot of insiders and once in a while, has a decent nugget to impart. I doubt anyone would rely on him for drafting purposes.

anyone paying attention to articles from journalists of the teams eliminated? wether it's their opinion or quotes from management, every single one of them mentions getting bigger, meaner and having defensemen who are big and mean. You simply don't trade Arber. It only opens up another hole somewhere else in the lineup.
There's a reason he's in ever rumour - every team wants a player like this.
Zadorov is a perfect example and he's 6 years older.
That. May i add that He's also a fans favorite . Fans have lost their favorites players during the last seasons ; From Kovalev last decades, to Markov, Radulov, Subban, Price and Webber 'cause injuries, and to end, Danault, Dandouillon and Ribiero ( :devdance:)....It's time for Habs to keep the ones fans love

Maaaaaaaybe. And he was demoted because the club didn't feel like he was playing well enough to stay up. I like Xhekaj but get real. He's not worth a top-10 pick and at his age, draft pedigree still matters. He was signed off the street.
Signed off the street ??? Show some respect for the guy here . it was off the Costco

Main board is wild on Zegras' value, my favourite was the " Reinbacher + Or 5th overall Or Maybe Guhle +" Then they circle-jerk each other about Habs fans having unrealistic valuations.

In no way shape or form is he worth a 5OA, which Reinbacher is too but he's cursed with being a Habs prospect so his value is immediately way lower. Soft 60 point young forward with some potential left, or the young d-man who has got top-pairing potential along with more assets.

And what pray tell would Carolina want Mr. Friedman?

I'm not sure you know what Montreal Fans want. What we want is juicy rumors, not flat as yo mama's chest tidbits.

If Zegras and Necas are off the menu then maybe it's Laine time.

We could have a massive 2nd line of Laine-Dach-Lindstrom that play a combined total of 15 games per season!

In all seriousness though, I hope Hughes inquires on him to see where Columbus stands.

If Demidov is off the board & Lindstrom has some concerns, would you all be open to trade down our 5th OV to CGY’s 9th OV & get their other first next year (securing us to get both their 1sts)?

Forget trading for these overpriced players. Sign Patty Kane for top dollar for 3 years and give up nothing
Maybe not such a bad idea, if he makes it to UFA status.
Offer him the same amount other teams will offer but for 2 years instead of 3.
That will give their 5OA pick time to mature.
Reunite him with Dach on another original 6 team.

Don't let all that cap space go to waste.

How about they keep the picks and prospects and bring back toast man.

Slaf-Suzuki-Newhook/Roy
Monahan-Dach-Caufield

If Hughes brings back Monahan and manages to again trade him for what would be a third first round choice they will be studying Hughes’s transactional dexterity in business schools for the next half century.

Kane would have no interest in Montreal and did he and Dach work with Chicago?
