The Tarasenko return is brutal without even factoring in retention, retaining 50% and only getting 2 mid-round picks is hilarious.
Not really i mean what did you expect? NTC. Did not went that well for him in NY last year. 33 next year so not a good prospect to be resigned. I expected a bit more but i would not say that return is brutal under the circumstances.

They got ~150th pick in 2024 and ~120th pick in 2025 for a who's on pace for 60 points and will now only have a cap hit of $2.5M. He had 3 goals in 7 playoff games last year for the Rangers which was second most on the team so he wasn't the issue they got knocked out of the first round.

Even with the NTC, if that's the best offer you're getting 2 days before the deadline then hold off on making the trade until Friday when teams might panic and increase their offer.

Trade and Movement protections almost always drive down returns. Tarasenko has a full NTC. This is not even remotely surprising return if he directed where he wants to go.
Why go to Florida? They can't resign him unless he is willing to work for minimum wage. So presumably he thinks he can win a Cup there.

If you were on an expiring deal and want to cash in next offseason, wouldn't you want to go to a contender with a clear top-6 role for you (lets be real, Nick Cousins is not a top-6 forward) so you can drive your value up and go for a cup?

Not to far from what i predicted. Predicted 2nd round and cond 3rd. It's 3rd round and cond 4th. Less than i predicted but not too far.

I think KH did well with Monahan. Lot of good players remaining to trade. There's a limited amount of 1st round picks and prospects of equivalent value available.
Winnipeg is happy with the trade because Monahan played really well for them. The Jets were happy they missed out on Lindholm.

In that case it doesn't have any bearing on returns in the market for other players (except ones with NTC's)

I would try hard to get Will Cuylle.
What NYR would be interresed in ?

Maybe : Struble + Primeau or Farrell could be a start ?

Cuylle plays on the third line
Struble in the top 4
Primeau and Farrell are not doing to bad, decent prospects to add to Struble.

Cuylle will bring grid and size.

He has grit and size. The owner will never let Drury trade him.

They won't trade him. He's needed in their top 9. You have to consider the other team's needs if you want to have a trade proposal that makes sense. Struble, Primeau and Farrell wouldn't make their lineup and they're looking to compete now.
