I think it's imperative for the Habs to work their way out of tank-dom beginning next year. Being bottom 5 three years in a row given the contracts to Suzuki and Caulfield is not ideal. It's fun to accumulate lottery picks in the abstract but in practice it probably sets up a losing culture.

And it's not going to be easy for the team to improve. They lost Monahan. They might be losing Savard.

We're also seeing a bit why other teams fail at rebuilding. Young players and prospects are uncertain. The Barron trade was good, but he's busting. Same with Mesar. Heinemen is injuring himself to bust-dom. This probably happens a lot leaguewide, and we probably have not seen the end of it with the Habs' rebuild.

I don't know if there are good players available on UFA or trade, or what they would cost. The team needs to improve next year but it's not obvious how to do that.

I don't see any of Reinbacher, Hutson, Barron, Mailloux, Beck, Farrell, Roy, Mesar, having a significant impact next year. Maybe the year after.
I think it’s important to remember where these guys are in their development. We have too few chairs for our young blueliners and we’re trying to give them all some time. I don’t think it’s accurate to say Barron is busting. This is what 22 year old blueliners look like. On average they take longer to develop than forwards do.

I'd like to see a couple of legitimate players brought into the lineup next year. Like you say, constant losing is not a good thing
I think you can keep Savard and Matheson. Maybe they’re traded at the deadline next year. Dach will hopefully be back and that will really help the forward group.

We should be better next year. I don’t think we’ll be a playoff team but I’m hopeful for a step forward. Dach would be big, hopefully Slaf improves and with any luck CC will have a shooting percentage better than four.

I hope so.

Keep Matheson and Savard another year, I’m fine with it. The only thing I hope we do is trade a goalie. Three is too many.
I'd move Pearson for whatever we can get.

I'd like to trade Armia for a small value before he goes cold again.

I'm hoping to get a first-plus for Savard retained.

I'd like to move Allen, even for RoJo or another bad contract, just to give our two younger goalies a chance to see what they can do.

Allen + for Morgan Frost/Noah Cates?
I'm pretty certain Allen has nowhere near the value of Frost. No matter how much the coach is reluctant to play him (Torts vs Frost). The plus would have to have more value than Allen.

Allen may have no value
Going to have to retain on Allen. He has negative value with stupid contract Hughes gave him.

If we could move Allen. Retain half. Then Armia and Savard. Around 10 million to spend on UFAs next summer. With Monahan already gone. We should pick up extra first. Maybe extra second and third by moving these players.

To those that want more leadership. Tanev, Walker and Dumba all free agents next summer. We could sign one. As we would have extra to spend.

The guy is like that piece of pie, you kept in the fridge for two weeks, got shoved to the back, and then when you pulled it out it was so deformed it didn't look like pie? And it went in the garbage....

Speaking of pies, if we could get a nice Cocnut Cream Pie for Jake, we should jump at it!!

For some reason I think it's Primeau gone and maybe a Dman with him.

Perfect world........Armia, Allen, Pearson and Anderson all gone.......and Gally gets hit in front of the net with a slapper by the Sherriff which puts him into LTIR for next season.....

It is hard to believe but there are many dogcrap goalies in the NHL worse than Allen. But is anyone going to trade for a backup except as a last resort. If the starter goes down you are not winning with Allen in net unless it is late in the playoffs and he doesn't have to play too many games in a row.

Must have seen success his brother achieved by wanting out of Calgary
At least Matthew did not sign an 7-8 year deal
Brady went brain dead and took the money, and now wants out? The kid said he loved Ottawa and wants to win..........
Seems way off here.................it's Lavoie so.............tis the season of crazy stuff, so who knows.

We're not getting Pettersson, we're not getting Tkachuck... Stop dreaming awake guys. And nothing is going to happen at TDL - maybe a 3rd party deal.

But I can't wait to the draft....
I'm sure we are going to inquire but would they even want to be here? they sound US bound to me.

Aka The canucks have just upped their offer lol
