Allen is an anchor right now for this team. Monty and primeau can easily do the job and better than him. He is expensive end takes a precious roster spot.

if Newhook is worth two 2nds, early and later, Monny is worth a late 1st and 2nd to a team that thinks he’s a missing piece for them.

He will never be waived. They will keep him until his contract runs out if they don't get the asking price.
He's not getting traded then, no team is going to be that desperate.
I wouldn't be so sure, we're accustomed to stellar goaltending so of course Allen falls a little short, but as a backup heading into the playoffs you could do a lot worse.
I expect a GM with very little experience to do this yes. Meanwhile, you'll get Primeau under-played and eventually joining the crap goalie market as well
