I'd love to get Pinto. There's rumours that Boston is after him and if true go for it, Very underrated. If anyones gonna break out it's him. Dach situation.

Seeing Pinto is still unsigned and the Sens have no cap space, what's your feeling about a trade for him? Say Harris/Farrel +pick(s) vs Pinto + small cap dump?

I don't see a hostile offer being an option. Hugues is trying to maintain good relations which is absolutely the right approach. Nobody likes as**oles that try to screw you.

Dvorak will probably get back after the season 1st game. Wideman is slated as injured and with a few creative moves of waiver exempt players it could be made.

If only we could move a goalie. I would've kept DeSmith and be done with Allen, hopefully he'll be healthy this season but DeSmith has better stats for a lower salary. Just for this year, it would've been worth it.

Your thoughts good sirs?
Made that move with Newhook

Which is exactly why he's not tradable and he'll remain with the Habs for his 2 years.
Doesn't mean he has to play the #2 role, if he does not merit it. If Armia's contract is unmoveable, we still can slot him as a spare. Same with Allen. Especially if Primeau grabs a top-2 role, we can't block him. Nor if deSmith playw like our top keeper.

At least post a source

At this point in time, merit can be based on much more than just play on the ice for this team. Young guys love him and, while he may be overpaid by 1M, the team isn't strapped for cash and is not focusing on winning.

Why put him on waivers for someone who doesn't have a future with the team anyway?

That's just people saying Harris will get traded because he has good trade value and he is expandable because Habs have more dmen prospects coming in soon.

Thanks for letting us in on your trade proposal thought process, enlightening.

I don't think Harris has much value. He doesn't have enough experience to be worth something as a defensive dman and he's not a good enough prospect to be worth something either. He could be worth something in a few years when he'll have enough experience to be considered a vet depth dman but as it is his value is not much.

A lot of people are gonna be surprised when Harris is one of the few who stay around.

He'll always be a cost controlled asset who has more value on ice than he gets paid.
I think he will never be paid what he contributes on the ice which makes him more desirable to keep. Invisible smart plays don't get big dollars. Punching guys in the face and having the bell centre chant your name or putting up tons of PP points does. I think Barron and Mailloux are the most likely trade candidates. I don't see them as contributing on a contender due to their defensive games, but having good value because teams pay for offensive contributions.

I think after Guhle and Reinbacher, Harris is the next least likely to be traded. People are singling him out because he is physically smaller than the rest of our D, ignoring that he's probably the smartest one whose body will hold up the longest. I think a lot of people are going to be sad when Xhekaj is traded for a premium. Everyone is fetishizing having an all 6'2+ D line of Guhle, Reinbacher, Mailloux, Barron, Xhekaj and Matheson and only think Hutson should be the exception. Everyone else under that height is trade bait. Hutson is also trade bait if he isn't Cale Makar.

Harris is reliable and reads the play well but I find he has obvious production/physical limitations. He's not likely moving in the immediate future but it does seem he is likely to be the odd man out when other better cost controlled assets are ready to bump him. He may stick as a #7 seeing he can play RD in a pinch.

Why would you move the guy who can play 3rd pair and also 2nd pair and be cost effective to do so?

You can't pay Mailloux what his offensive production would cost to play 3rd pairing minutes.

It's far more likely the other guys are moved depending on which cream rises to the top.

Harris will remain cost-effective throughout his career. The Johnny Oduya type that Chicago had.

I don't disagree with Barron or Mailloux but we will need a physical presence on that left side. Ghule and Matheson are not physical players nor are Hutson or Engstrom.

HABS need physical player up frt... they will be pushed around

Guhle is absolutely physical.
he is a stud...needs to mature a bit and done

I'm not sure what will happen with Harris but I'll be disappointed if he's still in my starting lineup three years from now.

He's not bone crushing physical in any way shape or form. He tries to be and it clearly isn't his game at least with his current frame.
