Question on twitter and i was wondering what the answer would be here: Pick no 5 and Slafkovsky vs Pick no 2. You do it or not?

As per Dan Rosen:

Tom Wilson and Anthony Mantha are signed through next season. Everything won't be the same in Washington. There will be some surgery. Maybe Mantha gets traded. Maybe Wilson does. I don't think you can rule it out because his contract expires after next season. But the Capitals are not tearing it down and it's hard to do an invasive surgery to the roster with the contracts they have signed and the history the greatest player in team history is embarking on.

Don't hide your prejudice, please.

Would you do Slafkovsky + FLA pick for #2?

Would you go as far as Slafkovsky + FLA pick + MTL 2nd round pick?

Imagine #2 and #5, even though we lose Slafkovsky?

Nice try , I'm as french as it gets, I doubt you'll ever meet anyone in your life with deeper Quebec roots than my family, I can trace them back to the earliest of recorded settlers. Go try your cute little woke tactics somewhere else bud. I'm a hockey fan first, could give a crap if you were from the area, makes no difference to me.

HuGo should be pitching that trade to the Caps. Maybe the Caps make it on draft day. Give them a 3rd or 2 4ths for Mantha and a first.
Yeah those saying no to Mantha don't see the asset management value. We have a shitload of capspace and the guy is surely flippable at the deadline. Contract year usually means production and I can see him hitting 50 pts in the right chair. Plus he big and can fight... 1 year project, great risk reward imo

Washington is the kinda team that loves russians and could take a flyer on Gurianov.

The capitals aren't going to give up a 1st to get rid of Mantha. This isn't the same situation as Calgary who needed the cap space to sign Huberdeau and Kadri.

Giving ice time and spots in the lineup to the kids is a lot more important. Having Mantha means one of the kids isn't in the lineup and another isn't getting a top 9 role.

The only way Mantha would make sense is if several veteran forwards ends up getting traded this summer.

How did the genius Flip ‘Em At The Deadline plan work out this year?

You have to be realistic, if Mantha is in a position to play loads of minutes that means other players won’t get those minutes and opportunities. This is what was so frustrating about David Desharnais — yes he got 60pts once but the opportunity cost was massive.

I think it makes more sense to not stick sub-standard players in top6 roles even if we lose the chance to later flip them at the deadline.

If we’re going to be forcefeeding TOI and top6 opportunities to players it might as well be Slafkovsky and other high potential youngsters

That's really sweet. Good for you. I know Pure laine Québécois who have the biggest bias against other Quebécois. I know black people who have the biggest bias against black people.

It sometimes becomes a convenient excuse to be part of the sub group you have a bias or prejudice against.

I'm just going by the statement. It comes across as a prejudice because it is strictly a statement aimed at that - Nothing else. I didn't say you were racist.

Your prejudice can be for whatever reason, whether it is because of past local players who used Montreal as means to negotiate better deals elsewhere, whether it is fear that the local puppy will pee on the floor because of the pressure in Montreal, or whatever reason.

And I am the furthest from woke.

But, seriously, which kids? Most kids aren't ready for the NHL next season. To rush kids to the NHL next season.

Where's the lineup that would block kids if Mantha was playing.

I think Mantha would be a worthwhile asset to flip at 50% come trade deadline. He's basically the equivalent of keeping Gurianov (which I don't thin the Habs should), but being unable to trade him at the deadline, or trading him for less than you might get for Mantha at the deadline.

It's not an absolute must for Hughes to get Mantha, and there might be good reasons not to get him, but blocking kids from playing in the lineup isn't one of them, IMO.

Mantha would be traded at the deadline, I think, when a kid might be ready to take his place.

The youngsters will need to mature in Laval next season.

We'll finish with one player over 40 points and none over 70...

What a horrendous f***ing team :help:
That’s what happens when you have 30 years of shit drafting and player developimemtz

Not one single non goalie franchise player in all that time is pathetic

I'd be shocked at Washington trading Wilson, but I'd take him in a heartbeat. This team needs some nastiness. Also, he only has one year left on his contract. He's an easy flip at TDL.

Mantha I won't no part of. We have too many forwards as it is, and he doesn't have a pulse. Hoffman sucks & I really want him gone, but even he gets into it with hacks & slashes. You need to have guys with at least some competitive spirit.
