with Pinto and Sanderson as guys that can get there through development. I don't think they need to go outside to get to the 11 guys, but they need a goalie upgrade.

This may be the best top 6 in the league as far as offense goes. I hope they make the playoffs this year

We're talking about strong players here, right?

Batherson is on pace for around 67 points.

Zub is a two way D who has very good underling numbers

Norris when healthy was a high end goal scorer and play driver.

All qualify as strong players.

My standard is 7 top-6 F, 3 top-pairing D, and an above average goalie.

Batherson is borderline 2nd line, Zub is not a top-pairing D.

I'm obviously not too wrong overall cuz Ottawa is far from contending.

Friedman mentioned that Tampa really wanted to add another defenseman. He mentioned they looked at Gudas and they also looked at Edmundson. But eventually, they didn't have the assets necessary to acquire Edmundson.

Friedman mentioned that Tampa really wanted to add another defenseman. He mentioned they looked at Gudas and they also looked at Edmundson. But eventually, they didn't have the assets necessary to acquire Edmundson.

Tampa is going to be very interesting to follow in the offseason. It feels like they may want to move one of their larger contracts (I'm thinking Cernak) to better balance their cap sheet. They don't really have the space to re-sign their RFAs and re-sign or replace Killorn.

I don't think Montreal would be in the market for a Cernak, but they'd probably be willing to trade Edmundson for part of the Cernak return.

Had Brisebois not sold his house and car to acquire Jeannot, he would have had the assets for Edmundson.

uh, nope... Calgary traded him because they needed the cap space to fit in their new additions (Kadri, Weegar, Huberdeau). They paid a 1st rd pick because of the need to use that cap space, not because they were desperate to get rid of him.

Before we get 8,000+ PLD proposals, hopefully we look into acquiring a potential goalie of the future. Even if we draft one, it’ll be years until they are ready.

The goalie is probably the easiest asset to get by trade or free agency. Also, even the best goalie of the world (as was Price ) will win the cup if playing in front of a bad team. It's a team game, so the success is more about a well balanced roster, few key players , a good depth , and a good goalie, of course.

The Habs have already few solid goalies prospects and Montainbault is having surprising stats considering the team he plays for. Dichow, Dobes, Vrberic and Primeau have all been dominating, at least for a time.

So, in fact, what is funny about the fans pronostics of the team, is that we often claim that Habs need to adresse some weakness in the next draft, without knowing that it 's already have been made.Same as all the claims for dmen last seasons ; It was already done and we see the result on the4 ice this season.

Good point about having a better C for Slafkovsky but for me it's not worth it.

Fair point but there was far more organizational investment in Markov then there is for Monahan so not quite the same situations but again, fair point. He might be healthy next season and bring in the return in a trade we were hoping he'd bring this season.

I think it's way too early to even consider it.
Let's go through the draft first.......things could change really fast.

According to my source, apparently Habs are going to trade for PLD at the draft so we won't need Monahan.

They gotta get rid of Troll Stomper, or at least show which mod actually made the warning as it just further adds to moderators here being power hungry and out of line like Danish was when you said Karlsson sucked defensively.

Majority of the mods seem to be cool, but there's always going to be one here and there thinks they're super important now.

I don't know why people expect anything different trade wise this summer - we are still smut peddlers, trying to offload junk and broken players. Monahan and Drouin will be UFAs, Byron will be off the books and Edmunson will still be a broken shell of his former self. Gallagher will still be useless and paid like a star. Hoffman will still suck and have no interest.

We have nothing other teams want.
