Those rumors websites never fail to crack me up with those headlines.
"Maybe" and "inevitable", way to make a contradictory statement. As long as it's a maybe, it's as far from inevitable as anything else lmao
I mean, people decided to believe Dubois rumours and still talk about it now so…

I've liked the idea where you track points after you are mathematically eliminated. I remember hearing about that years ago and I really like it.

Imagine the storylines in the last 1/3 of the season with teams fighting for playoffs spots are playing against teams fighting for draft ranking by trying to win games after being eliminated? I think this is great TV marketing and it puts fans in the seats as well. More revenue might be generated from that.

Some replies will be... teams will tank on purpose. Well, hate to break to you but teams are doing that anyways.

The part that might be a good point is players don't care about where the team's pick is. Well, that applies to our current system as well.
Well in the end, the system is based on an executive decision by the NHL. They want the draft to serve as a mean to bring some form of balance to the league.

People can disagree or dislike this stance but that's the way it is so I wouldn't expect them to change it significantly in the direction of favoring the more "deserving" or "least tanking" teams.

Spreading the odds a bit more like they did or limiting the numbers of lottery wins is probably as far as it'll go in terms of compromise.

I could see them randomizing a bit less maybe by averaging the rankings for the last 2-3 seasons to put less weight on outliers bad seasons and limiting the potential for the "one year tank job". But barring a major change in stance, I doubt we'll see teams officially competing for the Bedard-cup (or whoever's next) anytime soon ;)

Yeah, interesting to talk about but I don't see them changing the current format for years to come. They just altered it.

I'm fine with rumors and some are more likely or grounded in facts than others.
Just find it funny when they use noncommittal statements (maybe) while trying to sound definitive (inevitable).
It's one or the other. So long as it's rumor, it's maybe. If it's inevitable, it's 100% happening by definition. Juxtaposing the two is just a BS way to sound more convincing.

One can hope Hughes works his magic once again on this one.

On a side note, last point made me roll my eyes. A play-in for 1OA? Are you kidding me?
It always amuses me how people ever try to drum up some quirky variations on the lottery formula. No matter the one you use, there'll be happy and unhappy campers with the results and only one team can walk away with the generational prize once every decade, arguably not the most "deserving" one in most fans eyes. That's just how it is.
That said, a play-in appears far too random and small a sample size to disregard season record. That's just silly.
Maybe Montreal plays "third team" in Klingberg trade this deadline?

Rumble bumblings that Vancouver is willing to take a knee on the return for Boeser just to make room.

Apparently a 3rd for Boeser would do it; obviously we need to send money back, but I wonder if Armia/Drouin +5th for Boeser would be feasible.

Armia makes some sense in the position the Habs are in. Drouin... Not at all.

I'd rather not have him at all, mind you.

Tbh he would be a good addition for a cup run, but I don't see him being useful with this new generation of Habs. Savard and Matheson are enough as vets presence.

With Moneyhands injury history, I could see him signing to a very good contract for the Habs. Savard and Moneyhands are enough as vets for next season.

Hard pass on Boeser.
I'd do it 1 for 1 for Armia since the Canucks are not putting him in a position to shoot the puck which is his forte. The rest of his game is lackluster though. I'd rather pay an extra 3 million for a flawed expensive player that can still score 25 goals and 50 points while being young over a soft lazy cow that has 16 points in the 79 games.

I feel like Boeser has a decent chance of bouncing back. Not being used properly and his father passed away with cancer a couple months ago.

I don't know how badly VAN needs those extra 3M but if they're willing to take on Armia you do it yesterday.
I had completely forgotten his contract still has TWO MORE YEARS after this one.
Boy, it ain't getting prettier anytime soon, we should jump ASAP on any occasion to jettison him off this team.

My guess is Armia gets dealt in the 2024 summer with one year remaining in a similar type of trade that got him to Montreal in the first place

Somewhere on earth in a hospital
Man Edmundson had 1 good season in like his last 5 and he's bad this year. We are not fetching a first for him lol. Chariot atleast had 25+ playtime and could score goals with his clapper.

Also Getting Boeser is useless since extending that guy sounds like a Gallagher 2.0

Also F*ck Klinberg , extending a Klinberg would be a major mistake. He's already declining and the guy just signed in Anaheim for money. Dude doesnt care about winning.
