Who has good goaltenders to spare? It's safe to say that Vegas will get a better "offer" than that.

Habs don't need a goaltender. They aren't going anywhere this season. But Allen would be a backup for Thompson. Maybe a 2nd for Allen.I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Habs need a goalie too and we don’t have a starter so who are we trading exactly? Lol.
I would trade Allen for their 2nd? Nothing retained. Get the caproom alsoAllen 50% retained for their 1st + Buffalo 3rd![]()
Absolutely correct. I should have stated Allen ++. My point is Vegas must make a move for a goalie. It's safe to say that Vegas will get a better "offer" than that.

I would kept Mailloux; too much potentialIf I were Vegas I'd do Allen + Mailloux for my 1st. It depends on what management thinks of Logan... if I were Vegas I'd try to capitalize on it.
One rumour floating is the Islanders have Varlamov on the block.Who has good goaltenders to spare?

Oufff would be hard for them to compete for Bedard. They still have Pietro, Theodore and Eichel and Strome. That’s too good to compete with Arizona, Chicago, Philadelphia and Montreal
John Kordic wasn’t worth a Russ Courtnall eitherAllen aint worth a first lmao
I have to respectfully disagree. Snow usually doesn't last in US cities along the coast. Hell...it rarely lasts in Halifax. WTK can chime in on that one. Edmonton and Winnipeg winters are unbearable to the point that going from a parked car to a building or crossing a street can be agonizing. Those cities get their fair share of snow and cold weather and a few of them are the highest taxed cities in the US. Some of those cities I named have also gotten hit with a few big snow storms the last few years (New York being one of them, by the way). As I said, Winnipeg is colder than all other NHL cities, but they are not the only ones facing that reality.
The point here isn't which city is colder. Winnipeg gets very, very cold. But anyone who thinks that the city of Winnipeg is the reason the Jets have a player almost every other year prefer to leave is a Jets issue, not a city of Winnipeg issue.
With not just sign Holtby?
People need to come back to earth. Allen is not a good goalie. I repeat Jake Allen is not a good goalie.
/edit
Just saw Holtby can't play still there's better option than Allen i'm sure.
The bold do not at all have “harsh winters” - definitely nowhere close to Winter-peg.Winnipeg is not the only city in North America that has harsh winters, cold weather, and being highly taxed. Even if Winnipeg's winters are colder, it doesn't mean they're the only city that has to live with that reality.
If you play for Detroit, Columbus, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, any of the New York teams, Boston, Buffalo, Minnesota or Chicago, you're playing in cities with harsh winters, cold weather. And some of those cities are among the highest taxed cities in the USA.
However, you don't have the same story repeat itself with those teams where it's almost become an annual storyline that a player doesn't have the intention of staying.
It doesn't mean other teams don't have players ask to be moved or letting them know they don't plan to stay. But none of them have that consistently happen to them year after year the way it happens to the Jets.
We should go after future consideration they got from the Pacioretty trade, this player could end up being a superstar. With Lehner gone for the season Vegas has to be desperate to make a move. I’d love to get their #1 rounder unprotected for Allen or Primeau.... with Either & Brossoit it will be tuff to make the playoffs....
I lived in Edmonton -- winter is not fun.Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa don't have better winters than Montreal. Edmonton? you can't possibly be serious. that's ludicrous. not sure about you, but I've actually visited all three of those places in the winter. Ottawa's winter is very similar to Montreal's.

I worked with some men who used to travel to cities across Canada a lot for their work files. They liked to live it up on the road but none of them could stand going to Winnipeg. No offence to any good posters from the Peg who might be in here.

Minny’s winters are definitely a comparable, which is why Jets have very little issue attracting & locking up Minny boys - Byfuglien, Wheeler, Pionk, Schmidt also waived his NMC for Winter-peg after refusing Van
It’s both IMO - there is zero interest by anyone but potential Minny & other midwestern types to wanting to play there, and there’s definitely an org cultural issueThe Jets have an organizational toxicity.
It's not the city of Winnipeg that guys want to leave. It's the organization.
This is the point I'm making.
Why would the Habs do that? Geez... I guess you just want to get rid of Mailloux...If I were Vegas I'd do Allen + Mailloux for my 1st. It depends on what management thinks of Logan... if I were Vegas I'd try to capitalize on it.
Bring up Poulin, period.I'd give up Allen to Vegas for the cap space. Offer him up for a conditional pick. If Vegas makes the playoffs the Habs get a 3rd rounder (which is what they gave up for him). The cap space is probably more important right now than compensation. Habs need to sign Dach and it doesn't look like they're going to clear out any of the bad contracts. Move Allen's $2.875M cap hit, sign Dach with the cap space left. Sign some other plug goaltender at league minimum (or whatever can be buried in the minors if Price is healthy) to play with Montembeault.
