I feel like Dvorak is a player that's well regarded around the league.

He's got a good contract, is strong on faceoffs and while he's got experience, he's also not old.
Maybe I misunderstood the term fodder....but I simply mean bait. I agree with you. Dvorak is probbaly well regarded and would be the centrepiece going back in a PLD trade. With some sweeteners of course.

Maybe Montreal trades Dvorak elsewhere and gets a 1st pick and prospect. Uses that 1st to go back to Winnipeg.

Cap dump: Dadonov
1st: acquired in Dvorak Trade
1st: FLa 2023
Kidney/Beck/2nd 2024

Nobody's going to trade a 1st rounder AND a prospect for Dvo. I doubt they'd even trade a 1st in general.

Hell, WE shouldn't have traded a 1st for Dvo.

The Jets are in Win Now mode. They have a 2 year window. They want a star centre back, otherwise their window is closed and they'll be forced to rebuild early. If the Jets could just sign Kadri...

Sign Kadri, trade Dubois for Anderson + could be a nice help to their top 6

Tkachuk go to Rangers most likely. They have the pieces Calgary would want. Gives them inside track anyway. Lafrieniere I imagine. Kakko I doubt will get it done

I posted this previously:

A total of 7 players (Panarin, Zibanajed, Kreider, Trocheck, Fox, Trouba, and Shesterkin) take up ~ $55.4 million in cap space. 6 of those players have at least 4 years left on their deals and 5 have NMC. That leaves $27.1 million for 15-16 players.

I don’t see how they fit Tkachuk under the cap as well, unless they trade Shesterkin, Fox, or get one of the other 5 players to waive their NMC.

There might have been a few instances in the past where the effort looked low, but in general, Dubois is someone who competes every game.
Look at these posts from the jets board:

Also, media/fanbase pressure has nothing to do with Dubois requesting a trade.
Encouraging to see some of those quotes from Jets fans. PLD was certainly a beast vs Toronto when Columbus upset the Leafs in the bubble.

I still have concerns that he'll look for an out when things don't go well for him. My other concern is the price tag to acquire him when he's an offensively limited player as well as the timing. I mentioned before that I liken this to Toronto getting Kessel before they were ready to contend and it just put them in no man's land (borderline playoff team) for several years before they had to tear it down again and rebuild.

sometimes you just can't have it all

I’d rather keep that 2024 first rounder. If a 1st round pick absolutely has to be part of the package, let it be Florida’s 2023.
I think 2023 draft is too good to give up picks and FLA got considerably worse.

Another option if Jets want a 1st is a 3-way like what we did with Dach. Trade a player, get the 1st and move that one.

Depends how much you’d value a pick that is most likely going to be in the last third of the first round in 2023. Is that late 2023 pick going to be worth more than say an earlier 2024 pick?

2023 is a generational draft for the first 8-10 picks as I understand it. Is there anything exceptional about picks 11-32?

no way. Not giving up a 2nd to trade a contract during the rebuild and not giving up an unprotected 1st for PLD. If we were close to contending that would be different but the new rebuild just started.

We would be hitting the jackpot if we drafted a PLD with the Florida 1st. It's highly unlikely to be a lottery pick.

Also PLD is 1 year older than Suzuki. He can be part of the rebuild.

You certainly have high expectations for that Floridas' pick. Frankly, I don't get it.

Ssh Juulsen and Scherbak don't exist every ~25th overall is Pacioretty or Kuznetzov.

Would you guys pay 2024 2nd to trade Hoffman to a cap floor team like Arizona or Anaheim?
No, way too much. Maybe a 5th.

I'd prefer to get an overpriced vet D for 1-2 years and convert one position to another.
As for PLD - What about Dvorak, 2023 FLA 1st, RHP & Ylonen?
Too much.

I'm not trading a 1st round pick in a package for Dubois, where we also include a roster player with value like Suzuki, Caufield, Dvorak, Anderson, Edmundson, Dach, Evans or Dadonov (TDL value in his case)

If they must get a first, then it is
the later of our two 2023 firsts, AND
one of Armia or Hoffman or Gallagher (unlikely due to NTC)
plus optionally (max 2)
a B prospect (excludes top 30 picks, Harris, Hutson, Farrell, Roy, Dobes)
a bottom six player like Pezzetta, Ylonen or RHP
Byron

Was this the root cause of Calgary’s current disaster?

Now, if Treliving is such a bad GM, and since they’re sitting on cap room, are there players we could ship over there?

Calgary could probably use a winger given the hole left by Gaudreau and possibly Tkachuk.

While I’d love to ship off one or both of Gally and Drouin, Hoffman probably makes more sense for them as his contract for what he brings is more moveable.

Who wants Drouin or Hoffman ?

The root of Calgary's downfall was when Treliving ghosted Bergevin at the GM meetings a few years ago when MB was coming out and Treliving was going in.
