I think it’s a pretty fair deal but also hate it for where we are as a team. Well if we’re going to re-sign him this long I hope we go after some big names.

I don't like that at all. Saros plays 60+ every year, I don't see that changing next year. Even though he really struggled at times last year, he still played 64. Not sure how much Askarov will benefit from spending 80% of a season on the bench

Well, presumably Saros will be the clear #1 next year. But if the plan is for it to become a real "tandem" over the next few years, an 8x7.75 doesn't sound that great on that front either.
We also don't know what the cap or the goalie market is gonna look like in 3-5-7 years. If Saros is playing high quality hockey and Edmonton still hasn't gotten Mcdavid a cup or whatever maybe they offer a something great.
