An 8 year deal would be a straight up mistake

Yep - this is not a good decision at all. It's a massive gamble to assume he'll stay sharp for that long, especially given how unpredictable goalies are. And especially given he didn't look that good in Bruno's system.Love Saros, but I never like the idea of giving goalies 8 year contracts…
Think we trade him at the draft to move upGreat deal for the price, not a fan of what this could mean for Askarov.
Wouldn't have mattered. Guy would still be puttering around Milwaukee and on the way out due to being a Poile pick.We could’ve had Lundell…
Not even close lolNow I wonder if the number one is in play if Askarov is the trade piece
No word on a NMC/NTC
As in first overall? Dude, come on...Now I wonder if the number one is in play if Askarov is the trade piece
We also don't know what the cap or the goalie market is gonna look like in 3-5-7 years. If Saros is playing high quality hockey and Edmonton still hasn't gotten Mcdavid a cup or whatever maybe they offer a something great.Well, presumably Saros will be the clear #1 next year. But if the plan is for it to become a real "tandem" over the next few years, an 8x7.75 doesn't sound that great on that front either.
