It would be hilarious if we also stole Chychrun from Ottawa. Though he's not very good, a good #4 I think. Wouldn't pay much.

I hate that our defense is starting to play well because now I am not 100% convinced of who we should trade away to make us better (your lucky petry, you dawg). Holl is the only one right now but that can't be entirely on him since we never play him so he is constantly rusty 🤷‍♂️

I guess it helps when your goalie is actually playing well and it makes a lot of players play/look very good.

Maatta, Petry, and Holl can all be traded without any issues. They are all the same flavor of player and are all equally mediocre. Chiarot is hard to trade because of his contract and has some value because he can beat people up despite his brain farts. Ghost is an offensive threat and is worth keeping for the PP.

My ideal situation would be shipping out two of Maatta/Petry/Holl and bringing in Hanifin/Chychrun (preferably Hanifin) and Edvinsson.

Ghost. Frees up Ed. The bottom 3 can keep rotating.

we are firmly aligned in what we think is better for the team.

I am just saying, as a defensive unit, we are actually playing well, so to disrupt that, it would suck. I have always said give me hanifin or give me death so it's not like I am going to whine if we got him. If anything, the last couple games have confirmed that walman could be had...although we would not have many other players that are willing to block a shot here and there (even though he may not be willingly doing it but his positioning always fuc*s himself lol).

a left side of hanifin - walman - edvinsson is not something many would argue against

ghost plays right side predominately, no? so i am not sure how much that really helps unless ed can play right side and i never knew that.

He plays on the left whenever Walman or Maatta are out. And on one of the PP units.

Doesn't make much difference if we have 4 LD and 3 RD or 3 LD and 4 RD.
i see. Well, ghost is the only expendable to a playoff team that would probably get us the most bang for our buck at this point, i'm sure.

No.

Do you hate scoring and offense?
You don't think Ed could be a massively minus player while focusing solely on offense?

EDIT, wow... didn't realize it was actually this stark for Ghost. He's the only minus defenseman on the Wings.

Tarasenko could be had for not too much? Having Perron and Tarasenko as scorers on 1st and 2nd lines would be sick if you ask me? Maybe Stevie should go for it?

Joel Eriksson Ek is a guy I'd peruse hard if he's actually available. Idk Wild team needs well though. Idk what they'd be interested in back outside of picks.

Because we need another Copp/Compher on our team?

That isn't Holl rusty, that is Holl.

Perron should be lucky to play 3rd line. He is super slow and makes tons of dumb plays, while floating a lot.

We dont need veteran depth.. its one thing we're flush with..

If we add it should be a younger player who is signed or we will sign to be part of our "core," as opposed to a pure rental...

Hanifin fits the bill and so to does Zegras...anyone else we can or should pursue?

Ekblad? Big, righty, tough to play against, same age as Larkin, Windsor-native, grew up as Wings fan, idolized Lidström. Checks many boxes, Wings are set on LHDs, i don't really see the need for another one.

After this season Reinhart, Montour, Forsling gets a hefty raise. After next season Verhaeghe gets one too, Bob is signed until 2026. Mikkola and OEL has stepped up this season and they just re-signed that latvian "kid" Balinskis. They seem to be short of D prospects and draft picks for upcoming draft.

Ekblad has NMC but next season he will have M-NTC, 12 team list. Considering his background, Wings won't be on that list. At the draft 2nd 2024+Määttä+AlJo+Tuomisto?

Walman 6'2" - Seider 6'4"
Ed 6'6" - Ek 6'4"
Chiarot 6'3" - Petry 6'3"
Holl 6'4"
Now thats a Yzerman-esq defense.

Maybe Ekblad is the rumoured "McDonagh-trade" instead of Hanifin or Chychrun? Ekblad turns 28 in February, McDonagh was also 28 when Yzerman traded for him.

Spoke with some contacts in Sweden and apparently Hakan and the Red Wings brass likes Zetterlund in San Jose. See if that becomes anything now or during the summer.
