Any thoughts on salvaging Brobergs career? How does he compare to AlJo?
I'd love to have him, but I just don't think that we have space for him. He reminds me most of William Wallinder among our prospects- a big guy that can skate well, is somewhat inconsistent and gets beat a little too easily on D. If you iron out the kinks, you have a versatile, "do it all" two way defenseman. That seems like a player worth giving a shot to me.

The problem is that we already have Edvinsson and AlJo waiting for a chance currently with more D prospects in the pipeline behind them. Broberg wants out of Edmonton because he wants more opportunity. Until Edvinsson is playing full time, I'm not interested in bringing in anyone else.

Why are people so interested in Hanafin? Especially if he is getting 7 a year long term. Not physical, doesn't block a lot of shots, doesn't put up really great offence and hasn't exactly logged a boatload of ice time in his career at just 20-21 minutes a night. Also, had quite a few significant minus seasons in his career. Not saying he is bad, but I don't see a 7 mil defender either. He doesn't seem to excel at any one thing.

What do you think Walman would get on the open market right now? Probably between 4.5 and 6. He’s up in two years. Hanifin is younger and better. So if you can sign him for let’s say 7x7 and thereby limit the jump that kind of player would make when the cap goes up then that’s a good deal. Cause when Walman is up for his next deal he’ll prob make around 7mil as well cause of the cap rising. But I get why you’re not that excited.

Hanifin is fine, but I'm not totally sold on him. He is not a 1st D, or 1st PP quarterback (Rasmus Andersson has that duty at Flames) and also, those defensive numbers are not very good.

Still, it makes me very hard seeing him gettin 7M or more, when Devon Toews got for 7.25M for 7 years, as a secondary defenceman for a better partner. Quite equal position for Hanifin.

It makes you „very hard“? Dirty sports…

Can you post Mo‘s and Andersson‘s numbers as well?

I also like seeing people make a lot of money. I mean, I don't know that I'd go so far as to have an erection from someone else signing a multi-million dollar contract, but you do you!

(I know what you meant. It's difficult to see Hanifin for 7M+ when a similar but slightly better D was capped at 7.25M

I don't see a large difference between them other than Hanafin has had a longer career. Only a year difference between them. Not sure Hanifin is worth 3-4 more than Walman. Not saying he is worse than Walman, but I don't think it is a large gap between them.

Depends on how the next two years ago. I'd just ride Walman out for right now and see how the next two years go and if any of the prospects like Wallinder or others are looking ready for a sizeable NHL role to possibly replace him in 2 years.

Prior to this year, Walman has a lot of games played with lower minutes and lesser production that you could possibly use to drive his price down. His agent will obviously want to use more recent data. But you have data that exists you can use to keep his price reasonable, IMO.

Hanifin has put up a bunch of points in Calgary and has the reputation still of being a former top 5 pick. I think he is going to get a good bit more $$ on an open market than Walman. Plus I think a lot of teams will be competing to trade for him (moreso than DeBrincat), which should drive that price up.

Would rather just stay with ALJO since he doesn't need any kind of a save. He is developing damn near perfectly if he didn't get that injury last year

if Stevie makes a trade it’ll be for someone we’re all unaware of.
ahhhh so your saying its going to be out of left field....

COME ON DOWN SERGACHEV! (fun fact, didn't know he was only 6'1''........he seems to play a lot bigger than that height

hanifin is also playing on a significantly worse team than walman is.

Hmmm,
I still say if we make a trade in order if likelihood;

Hanifin
Markstrom
Duclair
Not a fan of duclair. just gives me AA vibes all the time.

Sign me up for markstrom though. huge goalie from sweden that can bail you out in games with lyon as the backup? Not sure if we had a better tandem in net since ozzy and hasek and they were both like 50 years old.
