What I typed out there is the only circumstance of which I would accept a Scheifele trade as a fan. I don't want him as that is an extension that I don't really want to be a part of.

If I could pay him for like 3 years, perhaps.
That's part of the issue. He has value..a 6'4 220lb right handed center who had 42 goals last year and is only making 6mil next year...BUT at 30, you can maybe squeeze 4 good years out of him, so I agree a 3 year extension would be realistic and fair. But does that mean we give up a 1st round pick and prospects for a 4 year window to open now? Not sure I'd do that.

I feel like as all the pundits and insiders are all podcasting, tweeting, and all together for the next 24hrs and need to spin up rumors and speculation, The Red Wings are going to be mentioned in literally every single player because:

Yzerman says literally nothing and no one actually knows
We have a lot of cap space
We have a lot of picks
We have a lot of prospects

So we make logical sense to be added to <insert every single player> rumors.

The thing I generally fall back after watching Yzerman these last four years, we have never seen a trade that any pundit has every openly speculated on, actually happen. When Stevie makes trades, they are almost always not what the talking heads have said.

MacKenzie Blackwood to the Sharks for a 6th? Seems like he would have been a good backup here for that trade.

PLD signs an extension for 8x8.5. Never had a 30 goal season and a career high of 62 points.

Second line forwards now commanding 8 million a year.

Yeah, DBoss' contract looks like a bargain in comparison, and I'd rather have Horvat for that price. than PLD.

At least we know he won't be asking for a trade, nobody wants that contract. Not even the people here that wanted to trade for him.

I agree with plenty of people here. I don't agree with yahoo as a source means I don't agree with anyone? If you took a poll on here, asking if yahoo is a good sports source, it would be overwhelmingly in favour against it.

You convinced me. I will only agree with you, disagree with Yahoo and any who disagree with you.

I’d take a flyer on Kostin. He looked like he was a nightmare to play against last season. Finally found his footing.

Sounds like Edmonton is finished with him.
At least he is a proper checking line player. (With some upside)

This is the kind of comment I expect norrisnick to reply with. You can disagree with who you want and if you want to trust Yahoo go ahead. There are plenty of reputable sports writers out there, I personally have never read anything from Yahoo that didn't come across like a non fan writing their opinion on a topic they know little about.

really feels like we could have done something extremely similar to this......................sad face

How come you want us to go after guys outside our age group? Every decent one that comes up, you say we should go get. Steve has said quite a few times he is looking for good players that fit the window of the current group which is Larkin and younger. Larkin is also the high end of the age group.

Every decent one? Really?

No, not every single one. I brought up Erik Johnson because he was a RD with championship experience that played with some great players. Didn't realize his legs betrayed him that much so I got off it.

Toffoli, Meier, Debrincat I have been wanting because they are literal shoot-first players and that is what we need. I am tired of seeing our players that know how to shoot, defer for the pass (raymond for example). I don't want that anymore. Even Datsyuk at times would defer for a pass and yes it was mostly the right choice, but the man had a shot that struck fear into the hearts of opposing goalies. Just use it man.

That is what I am going after. I want us to be in on all of the guys who are shoot-first players. We don't want these types of players, we actually need them. I mean..just give me one dammit.

And yes Toffoli is older, but he can help teach Raymond his vet experience on shooting since that's what he is known for.

How come you want us to stay stagnant and not want shooters on our team? Also, Yzerman actually said that he is looking to sign extended contracts for players under Larkin's age. Not that he just won't sign older players. I point you to Perron as exhibit A and Chiarot as exhibit B

We should definitely be looking at Lindholm. It's rare a center with a complete package like him is available. He makes this team better and not reliant on Copp and Kasper being 2Cs.

If Logan Thompson of the Vegas Golden Knights is available would you trade for him. He was 21-13 with a save percentage of 915. Believe he is 26 years old.
I think he had some type of major knee/hip issue last year so that makes me nervous. Not sure if he came back and was beaten out by the other guys or never fully recovered?
