Did anyone hear the rumor from Detroit Sports Nation about a handshake deal in place to acquire DeBrincat?

Contingent on 2 things

Who’s available at pick 17
Locking up DerlBrincat to an extension

Apparently Ottawa has a particular prospect in mind. Also, Zadina is included in the package going to Ottawa.

So Zadina +17oa
For DeBrincat

Anyone else hear this? I didn’t find it in the thread maybe I missed it
I'd do that every day of the week. We'll see what kind of extension gets done.

Friedman said on The Jeff Marek Show that Detroit was interested in Konecny, but the price is too high so they likely aren't in on him anymore.

If you look up DeBrincat's metrics he is not as one dimensional as fans here think. He isn't a Selke winner but he's not abysmal defensively. +/- on bad teams doesn't tell the whole story.
I watched as many Senators games as Red Wings games last year and you are correct. DeBrincat was the third most skilled player on that team (in teams of puck movement etc.), always showed effort and grit and was a solid 200ft player. Let's not forget that he plays a very physical game and isn't afraid of anyone.
Goal scoring is not is only upside.

That's because Mo has the self-control/respect not to hit a child, even when said child is throwing a tantrum.

There has been zero reporting that Connor is available, so I cannot imagine a scenario where he is traded. The Jets historically have struggled getting star players to stay long term in Winnipeg and now people think they will trade a guy that did commit long term? It’s just not realistic.

When the team decides they want to go leeroy Jenkins on the roster, player might think differently.

I'm not just talking about this situation, and not solely about trying to fight someone. DeBrincat finishes his hits, doesn't shy away from physically protecting the puck.

It is also funny that people talk about him trying to fight Seider when Ottawa including DeBrincat absolutely manhandled Detroit in those two games.

I was at those games and it was embarrassing

Yes, I would rather overpay and get the better player.

Hronek wasn't made publicly available and we gave him up easy enough when we got an offer too good to turn down.

It happens.

So would i. But if you can’t tell the difference between Winnipeg and Connor, Arizona and Keller, and Detroit and Hronek… I don’t know what to tell you.

Think what Yzerman would want for Larkin and add if you want Keller. Keller means as much or more to Arizona as Larkin does to Detroit. Winnipeg is looking to deal damn near everyone but Connor. Wheeler is on the outs, Hellebucyk doesn’t want to extend and PLD is PLD.

Like I don’t care if you think a mildly slow golden retriever could GM better than the guys running the Coyotes or Jets… they aren’t going to deal you the toppest of the top assets they have for anything resembling a hockey trade or futures.

Unfortunately they are in that denial phase and seem happy with just making the loffs. Might take some time for them to commit to a rebuild, so they'll be looking for pieces that can help their team today when they move PLD and Scheifele.

It would take 3 of our 4 1sts in '23 and '24 to get either of them, and that is if they were on the market.

It would take that plus a significant roster player I’m sure. Especially in the case of Arizona. Deal Keller from that team and you’ve got precisely dick in terms of notable star power or marketing presence. If they dealt Keller and got no roster player in return, they may as well re-fold the franchise

Someone needs to talk to that ownership group and share the warning of Mr. I's refusal to blow it up when it was painfully obvious that, wanted or not, it was coming.

Chychrun was going to fetch 4 1sts worth of assets until he didn't. And Winnipeg needs to unload anything and everything that will give them standings points. That franchise more than any other needs pure futures. Even young NHLers are too close to freedom before they are relevant again after the Helle, PLD, Wheeler, Scheifele exits.
