IMO We need to target 2 things
1) top 6 winger to play with Raymond on line 2 (vatrano/guenztel/buchnevic)

2)A big mean D man who can lock guys up (preferably right side) - Gudas, Larsson, cerniak type

Debrincat - Larkin - Kane
Guentzel - Compher - Raymond

Walman - Seider
Edvinsson - Cerniak
Chiarot - Ghost/Petry
Would be very short sighted to pay what it would cost to acquire Guentzel or Buchnevich. They are either rentals when we aren't ready to compete for aging complimentary pieces that would put us in cap hell if we re-signed them. Both will want 8x8 type contracts.

Veleno is a 4th liner and wont be a wing for long imo. He'll want close to a rasmussen deal and I cant imagine him getting it with raymond seider kane etc... needing new deals .

Berggren had 15 goals as a rookie and the wings were also garbage last season and has way more skill than joe. I'm sure hed produce more this season with the roster being way better

Everybody got mauled against Florida yesterday. I'd much rather have him on the ppl than fabbri who's as good as gone by summer 25. Hes always injured and cant be relied upon

Larsson would be nice depending the price but I'd imagine seattle would want a 1st and I wouldnt give up a 1st for 2 playoff runs considering where were at
We gotta agree to disagree. But how about this: Stevie calls up his good buddy Army and they cobble something together involving Berggren. They need scoring. STL plays PHI NYI and NJ this week. So we will be rooting for them anyway. And as cherry on top Berggren gets 2GWG. :naughty:

Army??? Lol

His value is shit atm I have zero interest in dealing him now. I know when kasper danielson and a few others emerge hes likely gone but I'd rather deal him when his values up

Id rather have him in over the likes of fabbri . Copp isn't going anywhere but that deal was horrible the day it was signed . Too much term and money

I dont know why alot of people are just willing to throw away a talented kid for nothing cause were sniffing a playoff spot... anyways like you said we'll just have to agree to disagree

Nah, he'll get around 2M per year. And he should.
Well I dont know if I'm him and I see Rasmussen get a 4 year deal with similar stats I'm not taking 1.4 per less

Ask would be at least 2.8 ... yes we both know Rasmussen does more but when it comes to contracts players dont care. I'd be shocked if hes not traded at some point, just dont see him here when were a real threat again

The more I watch and think about it bet SY stands pat this deadline...too many pieces in lower leagues and lesser teams that will be part of the answer in a couple years.

Should only buy something that has term. If it’s a depth D for like a 3rd that’s a rental I’m okay with that too

Where were you last season?
Meaning ?? Your trying to imply he had a good season? I didnt like the signing the moment it happened

Giving 5.6 x5 for a 40 pt guy was nonsensical the moment it happened. Either he gets bought out, traded or the likely option he becomes a very expensive bottom 6 guy the last 3 years

I'd have np putting him as 4c the last 2 years if kasper danielson and mazur come to town and produce. Wont put the kids on the 4th line

If Pittsburgh was going to do a fire sale I'd be more interested in trying for Guentzel's centerman with retention. Could pay dividends for the young guys coming up.

Don't really see anything happening with Pittsburgh, to be honest. We already have a steady supply of undersized wingers and I don't think Pittsburgh would trade the guys we might actually want.

I'll put a crazy name out there: Parayko. I know the perception is that it would cost a mint and that he's a few years older than Hanifin/Ekblad, but he's also cost controlled and I don't think the trade cost will be all that far off what we'd pay for Hanifin, and we'd be looking at getting a significantly cheaper cap hit locked in.

We also have a history of dealing with St. Louis, and I don't think that is insignificant. And Parayko fits what Yzerman likes in a his D. It's unlikely, I know, but it's a guy I wouldn't be shocked if Yzerman went after soon.

Parayko, kind of like the current player, he would help.

But I hate, hate, HATE his contract, and because of that, no thank you.

i'm not crazy about Hanifin but i'd still much rather have him for the next 7-8 years at ~$7.5-8m than Parayko for the next 6 years at 6.5

we aren't going to get gudas. I wanted him badly in the offseason because he is exactly what we needed. Include petry and chiarot with how they are playing this year, we would 3 defenseman that could really hurt or punish you in front of the net, albeit gudas would do it with a bit more force.

Just don't see that happening now, even though 4 mil aav is nothing to us for the next 2 years. He's also a +15 on a terrible ducks team if anyone wants to put weight on the +/- system

What we generally lack here is medium term (3-4yr) 2nd Pairing RHD. LHD is covered with Walman, Ed, AlJo - and depth in the pipeline: Wallinder, Buium. RHD - we has ASP at some point. We still need a more immediate answer while ASP makes his migration over to the States and adjusts.

Holl, Petry, Ghost are all not the answer so a need for a solid Top 4 RHD to line up with Ed is where our heads should be at and to not overtrun the apple cart here

Pretty sure everyone that was here last season is laughing. I hated on him all of last season, I was the only one, and I got blasted for it. Kinda obvious now that his contract sucks.
