his contract wont look so good years 4 and 5 hopefully he can keep up his 50 pt pace .

Copp as 1 or 2c is not a good situation for the team ... no idea why your bringing up horvat and his horrible contract lmao
Because a 50-60pt $8.5M center is awesome but a 40pt $5.whatever it is center is the death knell for the franchise.

Would rather see Danielson for 9 games.

Has to be an emergency situation to call a player up from the CHL, the Wings still have 12 forwards on the roster. If the Wings get into the situation where they can call Danielson up, they're more than likely out of the playoff picture.

Next year though....

Sure, judge Horvat based on one of his worst seasons and Copp on one of his better seasons. You realize Horvat has 52 pts in 59 games this season playing for a defensive minded team. Meanwhile Copp has 26 pts in 60 games playing for the 5th highest scoring team. Horvat is also capable of playing 1C, Copp can't even play 2C.

Or you know, Horvat's entire career apart from having a $9M linemate. And the roles on said teams speaks more than the overall categorization of said teams.

I'm not saying Copp is better than Horvat. But I'd much rather have Copp and his contract than Bo and his.

Guessing you mean compher and not copp?

Didnt trust compher signing cause hes in his late 20s and finally got a 50 pt season on one of the top teams in the league

I still dont full trust him to be able to stay on the top 6 throughout the 5 year term of the deal. No competition now which will change in not too long and he'll probably drop to 3rd line and 40 pts

I get though we can afford to do such signings atm cause well have lots of kids with low salaries coming up

Incase you meant copp hes definetly bottom 6 guy around the 40 pt mark and 5.6 x 5 is way too much $ and term

Horvat would be playing with Ray or DBC, so I wouldn't be worried. The point is that he can play 1C when DBoss gets injured which happens way too often.

If this team is going to be a perennial playoff team, it needs a 1B option at 1C because DBoss gets injured too often. Maybe we get lucky and Danielson reaches full potential, but I'd rather have Horvat than Copp and Compher. This team has plenty of options at 3C and 4C.

I heard he was buying...

That was before DBoss got injured. He'd look pretty silly if he mortgaged the future and the team misses the playoffs.

I said prior to the injury that he wasn't gonna do much, now I'm even more certain he does nothing. I'm sure he'll dump Holl and Kostin if he gets a chance, that's about it.

Seems like captain hindsight to say Larkins injured all the time.

I don’t think he was ever gonna give much up for rentals I still think he would give up good assets for someone with term

Why do we pretend Stevie will trade any top prospect or 1st rounder. He will trade firsts he gets from other teams but no chance he moves it at the deadline for an overhyped pleb like hanafin

People around here are going to have to re-think their valuation of our 1st rd picks at some point, we're not talking about top 5-10 anymore. Go look at the last decade of drafts, once you get past the top 15ish then high impact players become few and far in between. It's 80%+ mediocrity or worse.

Hanifin is definitely worth a late 1st that is most likely not going to be a high impact player.

Where the F_,_,_ do all these analyst's get these multi part stories of what the red Wings are looking for outside reading reddit and hf? We all know that Stevie is ultra tight lipped so when some media loon is spouting off 3+ things the organization needs just smells like absolute horse crap to me.

eh to be fair that tweet even says that like half of that is just Friedman/Marek's opinions(i've only seen the tweet but the wording on the Guentzel/Goalie/Holl stuff implies that that is pretty clearly just speculation)

I understand it's worded vaguely, but all of that is so far removed from what SY actually let's go to the media, it's just like stop, yes we are a O6 franchise and a decent sized market team but wtf Stevie don't talk so stop with the BS make a story outta thin air.

Just because Yzerman and the Wings are tightlipped doesn't mean the other parties and connected parties are.
