Agreed. Spurgeon for Pul+ makes me sad. There are established forwards we could bring in instead.Spurgeon is worth that package without including #20.

If we go off of the HF value for Spurgeon, I don't like the Detroit deal; even with a third involved. Spurgeon's top value here has been 16 OA.
Value of 16 OA + 20 OA
For
Pulkkinen + 19 OA
------
Obviously HF value and real life value likely aren't the same, but for a 25 y/o 2nd pairing PMD that can play on the PP and PK, and still has RFA status, I would think the 19 OA + prospect would be the more fair deal from the Wild's side. I could understand Detroit not wanting to move that kind package for him though.
Thoughts on O'reilly from Colorado??

For what it's worth, Eklund just reported that Mike Reilly is down to Chicago and Minnesota and will be making his decision "sooner rather than later".
Wherever he lands, I just don't want it to be Chicago.

Expensive, in both assets and $'s.
Someone's going to overpay him and be very disappointed when he fails to surpass his career high of 64 points. Predicting he has a Koivu-esque career.
What is their cap situation though? Honestly never even looked, just know there is probably no chance they resign him with their signings already.
You're in for a disappointment.
If you are Rielly where are you wanting to go?
You mention being mentored by a top defenseman in Chicago, but no mention of it for Minnesota. He probably has more in common, offensively, with Duncan Keith when compared to Ryan Suter, but both are extremely well though out, top pairing, LDs.If he comes here, it is because he wants to stay in Minnesota. There is really no reason other than that to do it. The Wild are backlogged on the blueline where at least 5 of the 6 spots are already filled, 4 if they traded Spurgeon. You have an aging vet I'm sure they would sign dirt cheap that can play 75% of the season no problem and is a great mentor. You have another kid in Iowa that was already getting promised professional ice time when he was ready and why he signed here instead of many other teams. You have another kid that is up and coming and actually has some size to him as well.

So, I'm watching NHL Network right now (Hockey Central @ Noon Radio Show) and they were discussion teams that could make potential big moves involving players. The team mentioned was the Carolina Hurricanes and one of the players was Jeff Skinner. Jeff Marek said that they could be looking to ship him out west, and mentioned Minnesota as a landing spot.
Came as a shock to me. What would that trade look like? Salary would have to go back to Carolina.

Pominville would have to go in any circumstance but we could be buying low and flipping Poms and our 2nd for him. Skinner has low value due to injury history and contract.
Edit- My offer was terrible value for the Canes. It'd be more like Poms, Tuch and our 2nd
Skinner is very welcome and he shouldn't cost that much. He hasn't had a season like his debut (or was it his 2nd season) ever since. He hasn't had a major issue with injuries either.
