So thoughts on the Kessel trade?

Think he'll be so-so. History tells us that he won't mesh well with Crosby since no one seems to unless their names are Pascal Dupuis or Chris Kunitz. Would probably work better with Malkin but that line would also be giving up a lot of goals. They'd need a real defensive banger on the other wing helping them grind it out on D. Pens fans have been starved of an elite winger for Crosby so now that they finally have one I'm curious to see how it pans out.

A buddy texted me saying the Wild are a possible suitor for Okposo...I have seen nothing of this sort so far today.

Eklund is throwing the rumors out there of the Wild and Okposo. He did the same thing last week with the Wild and Rick Nash. I'm not sure he knows how salary caps work.

He's also saying that the Isles are in on Oshie which Jeremy Rutherford basically laughed at.

So, if the organization has Reilly penciled into the NHL roster (which Russo seems to think ) and filling out the 4th line with two $900k players (Haula and ?) I have us $225k OVER the cap. What's the next move?

Do you have Schroeder penciled in somewhere? His $600K salary is already figured into the cap, isn't it? He, Haula and Carter make 13 forwards under contract.

So, Koivu and Vanek waive their NMC's, Carter centers 2 lines, and the Wild re-sign Cooke only days after buying him out. And Dubnyk in Iowa?

Hmmm.

That's interesting. How about Spurgeon?

Not sure who adds value-wise. How about cap-wise? Would the Sharks need to take back salary?
So Granlund+Spurgeon for Couture as the base? I'm down for that.

Obvious Spurgeon/Pominville/Backstrom trade is obvious.

Okay a few things...

1. I guess I'd be okay with Koivu+Vanek for Thornton+2nd
2. How did we get Okposo?
3. We bought Cooke out.
4. You forgot Dubnyk....
5. You have Carter penciled in twice.

Actually, if the last forward we sign is only $700k, we would have $4k in cap space, so I guess we're all good!

Russo has made it pretty clear that the Wild want to leave a $2-$3 million cap cushion. If true, then salary is going to have to be shed somewhere.
