Much like giving up future 1st rounders, I don't think we should be trading away recent 1sts.
Interesting thing about Islanders is that they have a lot of centers and some are playing wings. JT, Strome, Nielson, Gabo, Bailey. Where they are looking for true wingers.

Pominville scored as much as Okposo did last year. Okposo will cost likely around the same if not more than Pominville does. So basically we're giving up Tuch for a few more years of Okposo, hoping he maintains the pace playing with out centers, that he scored at playing with Hart finalist, Art Ross runner-up John Tavares.

Wild would send a prospect with a Pominville for Okposo swap because it would fix our cap issues this season created by Backstrom. It would also get us a young player with a style of play that we need a bit more than Pominville's.

I dream too big, but I just wonder if the teams would add Vanek and Grabo to each side of the deal. Islanders get that LW they want and get out of that longer-term contract. Wild save even more cap space and pick up a top-9 center who can also play wing.

OMG Russos blog comments are pure gold right now! How it seems that they don't know anything about hockey..

I actually am not a Okposo fan and am not advocating to trade Tuch. I am reacting to what could happen. Russo said recently that he though the Wild were shopping Tuch last year, but he thought they would keep him after a good freshman campaign.

With Stewart on the way out, Fletcher might want a bit more size on the RW.

Pominville + Tuch?

I sure hope not... If we are going for a RW I'd rather go after Eberle or Nyquist. Maybe Yak depending on the ask. Don't really need size with Nino and Coyle, quite frankly we just need a third line center to emerge so our RWers go Pominville-Coyle-Nino-Fontaine. Plenty of size there. Not to mention Tuch and Ek are not far away from adding a lot of size to the lineup.

I would agree.

Trading assets for Okposo right before he's due a giant extension is not something the Wild should be doing.

Looking at our players under contract it still looks like we need a couple depth forwards

PPG
Zucker - Koivu - Nino
Vanek - Coyle - Schroeder
???? - Carter - Fontaine

????

Unless someone from Iowa is ready to step up

Graovac? Bulmer..? Bueller..?

Unless it's some of the "unmoveable" contracts. Would people do Koivu for Okposo?

Holy crap, our C depth would be decimated and that would never ever happen.

If we could use Vanek as a main piece going back for Okposo, that would be excellent. Snow, could you please go into one of your meltdowns and make that happen? ;)

They only way it works is if the Islanders would accept Pominville + something relatively small (not Tuch, 1st, Ek).

Okposo's extension likely wouldn't be much more than what Pominville is getting right now and we get 5 years younger.

But I'm guessing it's moot, because it's not going to happen.

Graovac could absolutely snag #3C spot, but it would probably be for the best that he doesn't.

Vanek is signed for 2 more years so Pominville would be a better option to move IMO since he is signed for 4 more years I believe

I thought he was asking in the neighborhood of $7M which we really can't afford even if we send Pominville in the deal.
