Hell
The really funny thing is that "archaic" is not quite right. It implies there was once an era when their role/fit-centric approach would work. That era never actually existed. It's rooted in their own clouded nostalgia and nowhere else. That era has always only ever existed in their own imaginations alone.

And they shun any voice that raises any objection to their circle jerk.
I would say it does exist elsewhere. See the old Devils and today's Islanders which have the common link of Lou and his group of cronies. So really it's a couple sets of cronies that have that mindset.

There are tons of players at 5-7m better than hayes lol. But to answer your question…no I have absolutely zero faith that fletcher can get us a hell of a player at any term. That’s how bad fletcher is
5-7M players that will be available in 2023 UFA?

I dont get why JVR would only get a 4th. Hes a proven consistent 20-25 goal scorer who could improve a teams PP and has a reputation of being a great lockeroom guy and pro. GMs love adding guys like that at the deadline...hes very low risk...you know exactly what youre getting.

Toronto gave up a 1st for 33 year old nick foligno at the deadline 2 years ago. Foligno had 7 goals n 16 points in 42 games. A 33 year old JVR had 8 goals and 21 points in only 31 games this season...why would he get 3 rounds lower?

Because of Chuckle f*** Fletcher

Their primes don't line up with this team's competitive window at all. It's not a window btw, it's a brick wall. Trade them. Does a 31 year old TK move the needle of they're hypothetically competitive in 6 seasons?

They can't trade TK until they have a competent GM. Can you imagine how badly Chuckle f*** would f*** that up?

Ideally is not in the Flyers dictionary. He'll be here. He'll f*** it up. He'll keep his job. He'll be here next year too. Bob Clarke wants it that way and that old f*** is in charge.

Flyers make their typical February 10 game win streak to put us in the playoff bubble. Fletcher extends JVR for 4 years at 5 million per year. We trade TDA plus our 2025 2nd rounder to Arizona for a conditional 7th to free up cap space to try to make a deal for Jonathan Toews. Toews refuses to waive his NTC to go to the Flyers, so Fletcher instead trades the 2026 and 2027 2nd rounders plus Samuel Ersson for Olli Maata from Detroit to "shore up the defense" and promptly resigns him to 7 years at 5 million.

At least they've finally surpassed one of the team's they are trying to emulate. The student is become the master.

I wonder where the other franchise they adore is? Let's see....ah. 23rd.

Their model organizations are as bad as them. That's good. Just great.

Don't know how true it is, but "The Flyers are telling teams they would have to be blown away."
Everyone on the Flyers should be available at the right price except York and Farabee.
Why wouldn’t Farabee be available for the right offer??

He’s doesn’t offer anything untouchable.

He's only 22 with a lot of upside, no surprise he's struggling this year coming off neck surgery and no chance to get into game condition. Since he spends a lot of time in dirty areas, the inability to do strength work really hurt him this season.

pp/60 (5x5): 2.74, 2.17, 2.10, Sh% are high 17.6, 17.5, 13.2, but after 3 seasons, probably reflects selective shooting.
Even with his struggles this season, 75th among forwards, 87th last year, 12th the year before.
Given an offseason to add strength, a breakout season in 2023-24 (especially if Couts is close to 100%) wouldn't surprise me.

Not a player you want to sell low.

TK (25), Frost (23), Tippett (23), Cates (23), Farabee (22), Brink (20), Foerster (20), Desnoyers (20), Gauthier (19), Kaplan (18).
Add a top playmaking center to this group and it doesn't look so bad.

Not so sure about Allison (25), Laczynski (25), Lycksell (23), Wisdom (20), etc. Injuries, age, upside issues.

Not wanting to sell low on Farabee is different than saying he shouldn’t be available for the right price. The latter is what you seemed to be saying.

I’m not trying to push out Farabee, but I don’t consider him untouchable. I think the Flyers should be willing to part with him in the right trade.
