I'm not sure what the Isles' cap situation is this summer. I know they've wanted to dump Beauvillier's salary for a while, and they did as part of the Horvat trade. Varlamov is another $5M that can come off the books this summer.

If the Isles are able to re-sign Horvat, then I don't think they gave up a ton for him. If they aren't able to sign him, then it's a waste unless they win the Cup.

I don't see Hart returning enough to make a trade worthwhile because goaltenders continue to be undervalued with the whole "goalies are voodoo" mindset. Plus, until the specific players under the Team Canada investigation are named, I expect that those who have not been emphatic and specific in their denials will have an asterisk on many GMs' trade target lists.

Honestly Hart is the only player I wouldn't trade, unless of course you get blown away by an offer.

The Flyers have waited a long time for stability in net, and it seems like things might finally be trending in that direction with Hart, Ersson, and possibly Fedotov or Kolosov. Hart is the only NHL-proven commodity and he's only 24. I hang on to him.

For TK, I wonder what kind of package he could return. Unless it's a top 10 (or even top 5) draft pick, the odds are that TK is a better player than the mid to late 1st rounder will ever be. On the other hand, TK is probably having a career year, and the Flyers will end up paying for past performance, so he is the epitome of selling high.

TDA is one I would absolutely try and move at the deadline. Obviously JVR and the other castaways too - Braun, Brown (all we need is a LeBrun to have "brown" in three languages).

Unfortunately, Fletcher is the one making the moves, and I don't think he's capable of getting maximum value.

I hate that Russ Joy of Snow the Goalie implied that Carter Hart should have issued an individual statement of innocence, above and beyond the statement denying wrongdoing issued by Hart's agency on behalf of its six players on the team.

The statement is enough. How many hoops is he supposed to jump through to appease people? I'm sure the agency prefers its players not separate themselves from co-clients, because it pressures others to do the same and, if they don't, then the crazy media might start picking on individuals. It never stops.

Proper translation this team lacks the I can move through you of hedman or stamkos or the I will move past or around you of gudreau or McDavid. Intimidating the other team is getting them back on their skates so they aren't looking to make hits and that's how it's done.
Oddly londros was great at both and that's who played when I was young so not completely untrue

I doubt anyone but JVR is moved at the deadline.
Yeah, people underestimate how hard it is to trade players with term at the TDL.
In the summer, you have time and flexibility to figure out the cap implications, and bring in third parties if need be.
At the TDL, half the teams can't figure out if they're buyers or sellers until a week before.

I could see Brown, Seeler, Braun in minor deals b/c PO teams like to have veteran depth in case of injury.

Call me naive but I don't expect him to be among the suspects, and what he said was perfectly fair and legally sound. And the furor certainly has died down after the HC executive got the boot, but there eventually needs to be resolution in this case that begins with names attached to the accusations.
Logically I don't expect him to be one of the suspects either, but since we are in the era of #maximumpain, the laws of #maximumpain are in effect so it will somehow be true.

I don’t think Brown has any value, even though he’s done his job well. They’ll probably just keep him for the rest of the season.

Seeler I am sure will garner interest. He’s been a bargain at $775k & every team is looking for defensive depth.

That said, he’s under contract for another season, & you aren’t getting a better 6/7 D for that cap hit, so I think they’ll keep him.

You're saying McDavid goes around people because defenders are intimidated by the Pilers toughness ans not because if McDavids world class speed. I'm sure you'll say that isn't what you mean but from your two posts it sure looks like that is the poorly put together argument you're trying to make.

Let's hope they're not all like Fletcher! He had THREE years to prepare for Gaudreau coming to Philly, and he still ended up with his thumb up his ass.

Granted, I'm happy in retrospect that they did not sign him. But it is through sheer incompetence that they didn't.... not because of astute planning.

I think a guy like TDA could be moved - he only has one more year. Hayes is a tough sell, even at 50% retention because he is a 3 year commitment. Provorov? I don't know - I would think the right team can make it happen, but I feel like it's more of an off-season move.

What was Briere doing with the Mariners of the AHL from 2017-21?

They're ECHL, and at that level he did basically nothing except shuffle about whatever players were given to him by two different organizations and fill in gaps. Last time I checked he wasn't responsible for many moves of significance. An ECHL GM is little more than a clerk.

Hardly a good foundation for NHL duties. His NHL foundation is exclusively from the Clarke Management Failure Tree.

Braun will get us 6-7th, JVR 4th if lucky, I doubt we will move Hayes.
Trading Provorov is just not a good idea at all.

The bigger moves would have to be done summer time. We need to go on a losing streak to get management back to sell mode. I fear they will not do that if we continue to win. Also, jvr should get us a 3rd at least, especially if we retain

JVR is having a typically solid season - 0.68 P/GP. That's usually about where he ends up apart from last season, and his first three seasons in Philly.

22-23: 0.68
21-22: 0.46
2021: 0.77
19-20: 0.61
18-19: 0.73

17-18: 0.67
16-17: 0.76
15-16: 0.73
14-15: 0.68
13-14: 0.76
2013: 0.67

11-12: 0.56
10-11: 0.53
09-10: 0.45

Toughness is when two players come together and given equal ability decides who comes out with the puck. It's willingness to work harder than the other guy and extend when it may lead to bruising. It's laying out to block shots and taking the hit to make the play.
Face punching is just fun to watch and yeah I expect everyone to be willing to throw down when called for. I'd take 5 prime Simmons over five prime voracek. I'd rather have zero dlo.
Macewen showed toughness. Laughton is a tough player Cates too.
I'd say a guy tough enough to scare other teams would need to have world class power the way mcdavids speed is scary.

Prime Voracek comes away with the puck against Prime Simmonds most of the time. In a 5v5 Team Voracek vs Team Simmonds match, Team Voracek wins a lot more often.

What playoff team is looking to add a guy like TDA with term? Probably not the Rags or Carolina.

Don't know, don't care, but I'm sure someone would be willing to trade for him. Not for three picks, of course.

There's only one chucklehead willing to do that.

I dont get why JVR would only get a 4th. Hes a proven consistent 20-25 goal scorer who could improve a teams PP and has a reputation of being a great lockeroom guy and pro. GMs love adding guys like that at the deadline...hes very low risk...you know exactly what youre getting.

Toronto gave up a 1st for 33 year old nick foligno at the deadline 2 years ago. Foligno had 7 goals n 16 points in 42 games. A 33 year old JVR had 8 goals and 21 points in only 31 games this season...why would he get 3 rounds lower?

He went to Wharton at the behest of Val Camillo.
