Pre-Game Talk: Trade Deadline

Says a lot that DL is trying to upgrade with late round prospects and a guy that will never play for us.

Not expecting better than Purcell for the trash DL is offering. This Gaborik LTIR space isn't going to mean a thing.

Not sure why people were so against Purcell. He could have chipped in a few points in a top 9 role. Just because a player isn't gritty, doesn't me he can't be effective. TP has been productive in the playoffs before.

Is Gaborik on LTIR yet?

If these rumors about Purcell and Shultz are true combined with the Brown contract, handling of Richards, trade deadline crap from last year is anyone else starting to lose a little face in our management?

D.L seems to either hit homers or drop the ball. The middle years a lot of homers were Hit, Sutter hiring, Richards, Carter, Gabby, Regehr, Mitchell

The drafting department has helped him doing wonders with Toffoli, Pearson, Kempe, King, Nolan, Schenn, Simmonds, etc, etc

Lately their has been a lot of bad, Browns contract, Greenes contract, Gaborik contract, handling of Richards, handling of Voynov combined with a lot of questiable gambles - Lucic (I love this guy), the trade for Sekera (expensive gamble for a team that wasn't worth taking the gamble), trading for Phillys waste in Vinny and Schenn ( slightly positive at this point but don't trust Schenn)

I am not gonna fault him for the small gambles like Errorhoff as I liked the signing as it was cheap and filled a possible need, the McNabb gamble may still work etc.

It just seems that if his last 2 years of work were his only two years of work, we probably wouldn't be as trusting in him. I feel the two cups has bought him some breathing room but I hope he gets his mojo back soon. I don't want to hear of band aid fixes. If he needs to make the decision to move a coveted prospect or two to land young stud who's contract won't kill us , do it. Just no more stupid gambles.

back to the drawing board beginning to think it's not going to happen unless it's with columbus.

what about atkinson. could use him as a rental and trade him at the draft or something.

no....

More likely that he didn't get his facts straight. Doubt the Kings balked.

Well one thing we know for certain is that Purcell is in Sunrise.

I honestly not sure who is out there that people here want as "big splash" unless Kings trade Brown ( don't see it this season) they need it to be a rental if they're serious about re-signing Lucic, can't take a contract back or salary, unless they unload roster player back which I don't see.

And the rental players out there are all mediocre/overrated IMO like Boedker for example.

Oilers going to keep on Oilering.

Could have got rid of two players they had no intention of keeping long term, to acquire a physical center like Marchment and SOMEONE ELSE OTHER THAN PROKHORKIN, but instead they deal Purcell for a 3rd round pick in year 20-something other.

Sometimes you need to "lose" a trade to bring the right people in, but the Oilers just decided to get more picks.

Oilers wanted LA draft LW Nikolay Prokhorkin in any Schultz-Purcell talks but Kings balked. Why him? Played with Slepyshev in Ufa last yr

Why would the Kings balk at trading Prokhorkin?
