if this helps the Hawks out cap-wise at all it's an objectively poor deal, even if Scuds will be marginally better than Ehrhoff on the ice

If this now gives Chicago the cap space to acquire someone like Hamhuis or another forward like PAP, what in the world was Dean thinking? I don't understand this move at all. So in the playoffs the Kings will have three of Schenn, Greene, McNabb and Scuderi in the lineup? Doughty better be ready to play 35 minutes and pray games don't go in OT.

And how does Scuderi help the blueline again? Adding another mediocre Dman doesn't improve anything. Don't care how ****ing good he is in the room.

I feel like Dean Lombardi works under a different salary cap than everyone else. They absolutely cannot afford to take on salary for next year.

I am waiting for the particulars of the deal to come out. Maybe some retention or something to make the fact LA taking the hit next year make sense. Maybe a chicago pick.

I have joked for a while about another retirement promise maybe it's legit

I have to think there's more to it--either salary retention or a sweetner to help out our biggest obstacle/contender. Or it's a precursor to another move and his was necessary.

Otherwise, DL is lost in nostalgia to a worrying degree.

I read that CHI can't retain any of Scuderi's salary as PIT already is and no more than one team can retain. Is that true?

Exactly. Whether he intends to play him or not, therehas to be more to this.

Scuds MIGHT look better in the LA system, but he's still not a regular roster player at this time.

Can understand him as a #7 on the roster as a presence, but yeah that's about it.

and wasn't someone JUST saying that the Kings were looking specifically FOR a rental so they could have enough space to resign Lucic? and that Greene would likely be coming back for playoffs?

this is a mind**** all the way around, there has to be more to this than just landing Scuderi

one of the only possible scenarios i can think of is the Kings "helping" the Hawks cap situation in exchange for a pick to flip to someone else for a rental F, but that seems awfully convoluted and how good of a pick would they really get?

Isn't Greene the #7 defenseman/leader for the playoffs? Scuderi doesn't help at all. This just guarantees that Doughty will be playing 35 minutes a night in the playoffs.

When Chicago sent him down they saved 950k cap space so maybe Lombardi thinks next year if he sends down the 2.25 cap hit he's left with just paying Scuds over a 1 million?

Between McNabb-Schenn-Greene-Schultz-Scuderi-Forbort the Kings have more **** on the roster then Sutter on his bull farm...
