Now look at his scoring this year and understand rental prices are based on this year
Don’t care about numbers this year he’s been in and out of the lineup only played 29 games on a team that wasn’t very good. He’s a proven 20 plus goal scorer and would sure be more effective then Teravainen who looks like he’s just out for a Sunday stroll lately and afraid to do anything. Rental prices aren’t just based on this year or O’Reilly would not of brought back a first

I’m seeing a lot of talk about Miller’s NMC kicking in this Summer. There’s a provision in the CBA that allows for UFA age (7 years pro or 27 year olds) players to have a future trade clause retroactively applied, if the signing side agrees. Has anyone seen it reported that it hasn’t?
Per Capfriendly, it wasn't. Doughty and Seguin got that I believe when they extended a year early.

If there's a good player to trade for during the draft, they should trade our late 1st round pick in a package. Thus finally upgrading the top 6.

If they are too conservative during the draft with whatever available players (good ones) there might be, then this summer could be a rough one IMO. It'd also be nice to get the big move done early in the offseason instead of things coming down to the wire and being empty handed again (for the top 6) like with this deadline.
Pasta just got paid at $90 mill over 8 years. Aho is ufa at the end of next season, so he's seen what the market bears. Want to take your best shot sooner rather than later. If you have a need, you need to go and fill it.

The feedback I have heard in my STM group is that people are generally pretty pissed. In the lower rows the renewals were close to a 50% increase. Seats in the 4th row that used to be comparable to row Z are now "Double Plus Premium Red Diamond" pricing.

All of the seats that traditionally were occupied by the highest priority STM because they were the best seats in each pricing tier saw targeted upgrades specifically for those areas. This is a year after eliminating the food and beverage credit.

Bold strategy to telegraph being aggressive to win this year, send out big STM renewal increases and then putter out of the TDL. I don't think the team is in any danger of losing fans overnight. But a 1st round exit will have people questioning the value proposition.

I don't doubt what you are saying in terms of some STMs being pissed but I highly doubt the team will lose many ticket holders even with a 1st round exit. And the small amount they might lose, will be taken up by someone else.

Winning is what brings fans in. And as long as the Canes keep winning, fans will be there.

What turns fans off is multiple years of being out of it by Christmas.

How’s it a bad deal? This is a guy that’s a 40-50 point player who’s scored 20 goals twice and 30 once. Paying a late first and a 4th for a proven 20 goal scorer and a guy that isn’t afraid to mix it up and get under people’s skin seems like an easy decision imo. We likely won’t even see this first round pick play (if he does) for 3-4 years.

I would assume their rationale is that he’s not that much of an upgrade on anyone they’ve already got in the top six this season. Rod IS NOT going to breakup the third line. Burning a 1st round pick for Bertuzzi to likely play on the 4th line and face wash a few people after the whistle, if he stays healthy, wouldn’t make much sense

As much as everyone, myself included, wants the Hurricanes to add some snarl to the lineup. I just don’t think it’s part of their MO. They seem to loose the special teams battles when that mess starts in the playoffs anyway.

Honestly with almost every team in contention this season burning 1st round picks and more. The Hurricanes are set up this off-season, where they prefer to deal, to make some moves, especially with the cap space they’re going to have. I would imagine that first round pick will very much be in play leading up to the draft.

so you don't care a out Bertuzzi's numbers this year, but you are complaining about Teravainen's numbers this year, even though Teravainen has put up better numbers than Bertuzzi in prior years?

Well they've already lost me, but that's because they doubled my STM price and the value just isn't much worth it anymore.

Brings a different element. Teuvo looks scared to do anything lately
Ok, but you are hypocritical if you say you don't care about his scoring this year because of past performance, but then complain about TT's scoring this year. Either this year's scoring matters, or it doesn't.

If you point is he brings a different element, that's fine, but the discussion was scoring.

I'm not knocking the desire to add him as I would have ben fine with it, just the justification that you don't care about his scoring this year, but then turn around and complain about TT's scoring this year.

I’m really talking about the overall affect of his play. As you know the right sided draws are important and even if KK is strong in general we’d like to have a righty in the mix. I found Tro to be stronger on the puck, less careless with it, a more consistent passer, more experienced and smarter defensively, much stronger on both his stick and on his feet. It’s more than pts to me.
Tro was also a core Pk guy that contributed to the best pk in the League (although he made sure that the numbers for higher due to taking penalties).

I’m hoping pool party with his length and speed be one of our PK guys.

Maybe? No idea, I just know they're going for the cash grab and even if only 50% of those seats are sold next year, they make more money than this year.
Supply and demand drive prices. If prices are too high, demand will decrease and they'll need to drop prices. If demand doesn't drop, then prices won't drop.

I want to preface this by saying I only ever want to see the Canes win and would never find any joy in them losing.

If losing in the first round this year is a wake up call and catalyst for change in certain areas, that would be a giant silver lining to an early exit. Daniels needs to go, the powerplay and general scoring output from our forwards is unacceptable for the talent we’re working with.

Teravainen’s time here I think has run it’s course as well, packaging him with picks and prospects in the summer to land a bigger and younger and more offensively explosive fish is the shot in the arm the group needs. I know group morale is important but so is sending a message that we’re here to win first and foremost.

Trading for Saros would be another thing right at the top of my priority list. Show the team and the fans you’re committed by bringing in a Vezina caliber netminder in his prime, a guy who is ready to win now and for years to come.

This is the last off-season they have before the summer from hell is here and our chances for a cup will be that much slimmer due to the raises coming up. I’m not saying they need to fully empty the cupboard, but this leadership team needs to be comfortable with moving Jarvis, Morrow, and at least one of our firsts this summer to really set ourselves up for success. If not now, literally when.

Sorry, had to vent.

Canes struggled early, but since thanksgiving they have the 4th best PK in the league and the best net PK in the league.

Vancouver denied Miller’s agent’s request to extend the NMC to include this season.

"Canucks GM makes puzzling comment about J.T. Miller during presser, essentially revealing that he could still be traded"

During a Tuesday press conference, Allvin revealed that the Canucks did not extend Miller's NMC/NTC on his new deal to include the final year of his existing contract. Sort of an odd comment to make regarding a player you just signed to a 7-year extension.
