@SportsnetSpec Two L.A. scouts here to watch Gaborik, and wow, has he mailed this one in. No shots with 4:34 to play. May not need a shower.

This guy was a 2nd team all star two seasons ago.

Ultimatum for Callahan

Negotiations intensified in New York between the clan and Ryan Callahan New York Rangers. However, Glen Sather gave an ultimatum to Callahan: Tuesday noon.

The DG Rangers wants to have 24 hours to shop Callahan if ever he does not sign a new contract with the "Blue Shirts".

However, it would be surprising to see him leave the Big Apple.

Lavoie also has Simon Depres and Jordan Caron available. Both of them are no longer in their team's plans. Caron is out of waivers. Change of scenery.

Looking more and more like Callahan will stay in NY.

Despres has been dangled by the Pens for a while. Bylsma never warmed up to him.

Was Despres the 1st round pick the Pens got from trading J. Staal to Carolina?

No, but oddly enough 2/3rd's of the Staal trade return is in play for Kesler. Sutter was offered up, as well as the choice of Brian Dumoulin and Simon Depres. Dumoulin and Sutter both came over in the Staal deal.

I personally think Despres could be a really good buy-low opportunity for a team, but I don't see him as the top-prospect the Nucks would be looking for.

Yeah, Despres is a good pickup right now; he'll be solid. Colorado should offer McGinn for Despres straight across. They'd win that trade pretty handily, but Pittsburgh is stacked on D and McGinn would be a solid pick up for them as well.

Not sure if it's out there or not, but told Callahan's latest offer was 6-years at $6.3M per season. Rangers declined, set on 6/$6M per

That is good news. Don't budge. and for the love of god, DO NOT BUDGE CALLY, STAY STRONG!

Tuesday at noon, great. Light at the end of the tunnel. RL is as legit as it gets.

Please trade him tomorrow.

The article says Sather wants 24 hours to shop Callahan

Why would he trade him tomorrow

Looks like we are gonn be stuck with cally for 6 more years . ****ing crazy that he doesn't take the 6 mil. And even crazier that we don't deal him.

We need to get bigger and we have other holes to fill then paying cally 6 mil
This organization is never gonna be a contender

I really don't know what to think.

Usually, with the 2 sides $1.8M off...the story would be similar to Girardi. "There is a deal there". "The two sides are getting closer."

This, reading as the Rangers will not budge...no give and take...seems like a "narrative" to me. Both parties decided to move on, but want to make it look like they tried. Not to mention it makes Callahan look like a more reasonable sign to any potential trade partners.

I really hope the Rangers don't move off of 6x6. If he DOES end up signing that, it would suck, but I could stomach it SOMEWHAT. A penny higher would just piss me off beyond belief. 6x6 already effectively does that, but I can't hate on Cally too much.

Cally, do the right thing for yourself and test free agency. You'll be paid handsomely and you won't be resented for taking a deal that will set the team back.

It sucks it's come down to this because we all do love you, but it's not a sound hockey decision to sign a player of your calibre and injury proneness to that length of a deal.

You've busted your ass to get where you are, you've earned it. Get all of the money you can because in the end it's a long shot to win in NY with the GM your negotiating with right now.

I really hope you're onto something, I do. Because those numbers are not good. It's a little unusual they keep releasing the numbers so often though.
