  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
Nah. More like 2 1sts and 2 2nds. Maybe I could be convinced that it's 3 1sts and 1 2nd if you're really high on Muk.
They got 2 1sts alone in the deal. You think Zetterlund + all of the prospects aren't worth 2 more 1sts?

Sabres could not possibly have beaten that offer. Anyone saying differently is just bellyaching for the sake of the ache. You got a bone to pick with Kevyn, fine, but he didn’t have a chance here so find something else to be mad about.

Agreed. There are parts of that trade we hope players get to like Zetterlund is where we hope Peterka gets, Mak is a better defense prospect than any of what Buffalo has in their stable right now. Then there are 2 first rounders in there. San Jose did well and Jersey gets their man AND doesn't hurt the top of their pipeline. We can hope Buffalo gets to that point where they can make that sort of finishing move and not chop out the heart of their prospect pipeline.

If Grier had his heart set on Dmen, Buffalo didn't have the ammunition.
Also, the conditional 1st can’t be based on resigning, so it must be based on team performance in this year’s playoffs which Grier probably wasn’t interested in getting from a Buffalo team still scraping to get a chance to play Boston in the first round.

Zetterlund, Mukhowever and Nikita O? I don't think they sum up to 2 1st rounders. Muk would be a borderline 1st by himself...........but beyond that, Zetterlund is a nice piece but not a real high ceiling. Same with NO.

We don't have a Zetterlund. We don't have a Mukwhatever. Maybe some could argue that Nikita and Johnson are roughly equal.

Okhotiuk is one of my player crushes so I'm probably not the right person to compare him to Johnson. They are stylistically different but both focus on their own end. He's what Fitz would be if Fitz paid attention to his positioning but also hit to hurt.

they held onto everything that could possibly matter. Nemec, Hughes, Holtz, Casey…You can get Meier without touching anyone of value on our roster AND no Levi, Savoie, Ostlund or Kulich?

f***ing do that

With no guarantee Meier would sign an extension? We're not in the same situation as NJ.

The rare kitchen sink proposal that vindicates the trade board regulars

I can’t stand when people say “whoever got the better player won!” If I trade you my PS5 for your Switch, Xbox one, a bunch of games, wireless headphones, etc- the cash value of my take ends up greater at some point, as do my possibilities. Additionally, sj has no need for Meier. They needed as many pieces as possible to rebuild, and that’s exactly what they got. NJ, meanwhile- I don’t like it for them. They’re still young and should keep adding to that youth. Meier is only 26, but that’s a big expensive piece to bring in. I’ll eat crow if I’m wrong, but I don’t think they’re a real contender this year, Meier totally changes the make-up of that roster if/when they re-sign him. Stick with the process, imo. Also why I didn’t want Meier for us. I think we’re in a better position to sell off a pick or two, now, but selling soo much on one piece- nah.

I just KNOW Donnie could resurrect his offense from last year.

And then that snarl? Something we NEED.

I don't know if he'll ever shoot 20% again, but he plays the sort of heavy game they could use looking ahead toward playoff contention. And it also keeps him from going to a rival while giving them someone who can throw hands when things go sideways.

Seriously not happy about that one. And that's because it puts another physical prick into a team full of them in the division.

The other thing to consider -- let's say we get to a place that we can finally sell the farm for that one piece. With NJ, it made sense to get Meier because they're largely tapped out on young forwards aside from Mercer.

Did we really want to blow our load on a winger? When young forwards is the strength of our organization?

The more I watch this team, the more I'm getting on board with our "big trade" being a defenseman to round out our top 4.

Tampa should *not* end up with Jeannot. There are too many other teams with too many better assets (including the Sabres) that could outbid the Lightning. Jeannot has no trade protection, so Nashville should be selling to the highest bidder.

Emphasis on the "should"s

If he's available you have to be able to one up whatever the bidder is. He fits the age window and we will have him under cost control.
So let me get this straight? Not singling you out but the people who think Adams has to stag the course with a minor tweak or two.We have the most available cap the deepest prospect pool 23 1st 3 2nds 23 and we can't outbid anyone ? We currently have the youngest team which means most of our core is here. Now Tuch is out we have exceeded expectations we should be able to acquire anyone we want.We need a top 4 defender and some grit upfront. If we can't do that for this young team basically our GM is saying Fyou. The players and fans deserve a playoff appearance and it's in the team's hands if they want it.Not making moves whether long term or rental would be a colossal and reprehensible disservice to the players and the fans.I get the vibes thing and team unity but bigger vibes is when management goes out and gets players to bring team over the top or at least a chance at playoffs.New Jersey didn't give up much for Meir albeat no extension lots of quantity we could have easily beat that. Iam not saying Adams won't do nothing but man he is running out of quality players as teams we are competing for are getting better.I will be disgusted if he does nothing to help this young team especially with Tuch out now
