Whoever was looking for some of the snippets by Biron and Ray about the Corkum acquisition -

That came up this morning on GR apparently. The Marty piece I believe was Friday's or Monday's episode but I'm not in a place to sift through the transcript or listen to it again.

Only aspect that Adams has not screwed up is the forward situation in terms of getting skill at that position. Goaltending and Defenseman structure & depth/pipeline he's really screwed up. Unless things change drastically, they are maybe 4-5 years away from actually fielding a cycle of prospects of bringing homegrown talent into the lineup. And that's if they focus on the position at all.

But hey, Adams is taking the patient approach, so that shouldn't be looked at as a negative.
if by really screwed up you mean its the best blueline this team has had since 06-07 then you are right

Ahhh yes. There’s like 6 people in here trying to keep up the consistent positivity but I just KNEW someone would swipe in with not everyone has to agree. LOL.

ANYWAY.

Kevyn has 24 hours. Plenty of help still available.
Sorry I didn't realize we were required to tailor our opinions to make sure each "side" has an even number of people. Maybe if you feel your side doesn't have enough support it is because it is a crappy side and not because everyone else is wrong and only you are right.

It's really not that great, though the two big pieces are probably the best defenseman we've had since then, quite easily. Seeing as he was GIVEN one of them via the previous management, and he was given the other via Lottery luck, I'm giving him absolutely 0 credit for his actions with them. After Dahlin and Power there isn't much behind them that looks like legitimate NHL defensemen. The only player close to that is Joker, again, another player he inherited from previous management, but he's regressed so quickly.

But even if you want to give him credit for the NHL talent on the team, there's NOTHING in the pipeline after Power.

Is this you?

:sarcasm:

ya after 40 years of being losers

and then you watch the team on the upswing and you see allens rookie deal come and go, 13 seconds, a football streak that was almost old enough to vote, a hockey streak going into puberty, and now you see top tier talent getting traded for a pick package that would have garned the label darth adams had he done it while your gm sits idly by

forgive anyone thats been hit enough times that they flinch easily

anyone negative about buffalo sports has a damn good reason to be

Better coverage from the forwards would help, sure, but I think you're way underestimating how much the D and G contribute to our ability to keep the other team from scoring. They're called "defensemen" for a reason.

Forwards have a bigger impact on defensive play than defensemen do. They do need better d-zone play and the goalies as well, but the forwards have responsibility to provide back checking and ready outlets. When they do that, things work a lot better overall. When they don't, they often get run over for a shift or two.

#1 22yr old norris candidate
#2 22 yr old signed for term
#3 20yr old in his last 5 starts 28mins, 27, 20, 24, 23
#4 23yr old
#5 28yr old
#6 25yr old
#7 24 yr old

so complaining about the pipeline only works if you ignore that most nhl teams arent icing a top 4 with an average age of 21yrs and 8 months that contains multiple norris candidates

most teams would still have our top 4 in the minors at those ages

Is there data to back that up? That seems like a pretty extreme claim.

If that is true, then maybe we should keep bad defensemen to save cap space.

Most of the coaching and data guys go hard on that. You need defensemen who can transition the puck cleanly and you need forwards who come back to win possession and then maintain it.

I agree that forward support is essential but I’d dispute that their obligations outweigh that of the defenders. They simply don’t have the same level of work in that regard

Then start by firing Olofsson into the sun

i might not disagree with you but I also think that could just be a shadow of how the statistical model identify significant events to be measured
