Trade Deadline Thread (March 3)

I’m not annoyed about Chychrun specifically, but more annoyed that we have to keep watching Clague, Bryson, Joker, Boosh, Fitzgerald (or his equivalent), and Pilut in some combination every night. We have 3 consistent NHL-level defenseman (Power has his bad moments, but way more good than bad) and then a collection of misfits that occasionally look like an okay bottom pair defenseman on a lucky night, but usually look totally over their heads.

We’ve lost a bunch of games this year where the majority of GA are the group above making baffling decisions, or panicking when the tiniest amount of forecheck is applied.

Dahlin as well. In three years Tage is 28 and we're no closer to having the defense fixed. But we do have the magic bean of Levi that we're all hoping actually turns out without being Spencer Knight'd into the ice.

That team only ever once sat in a playoff spot after January, they got Wayne Simmonds and proceeded to choke it all away.

And it's been perfectly clear since the injuries happened that they needed more. This isn't new.

I have received intelligence from the highest levels of the Buffalo government that we have a deal in place for Jiricek.

Dumba could help, I guess. But they'd need to re-sign him.

Other than Parayko, and Karlsson (I know I know), nothing that really sets us up for the future. And again I go back to, why would adams do any of these but not Chychrun, or Ekholm, Hronek, or even Sandin.

Surefire future RD available for cheap is not something that exists.

You have to draft them and we haven't done that either!
 
I can't respond. I wasn't in favor of Chychrun because I thought the cost was too much for a not perfect fit....... but ... at that price this is a face plant that we let our rival have him for very little.

Huge failure this whole week we have watched deals made that I would have made.

So we are not selling or buying, have half a roster that need to be replaced, and almost no prospects in our pipeline that are anywhere close to filling the actual needs we have.

but.... just wait for it.......just wwwwwaaaaiiiiittttt! zzzzzz

Adams just shown he is a coward wont make deals and doesn't give a shit about his young team making the playoffs.He needs to go asap before he totally screws them up in the summer and next year.

Matheson was someone they were sniffing around last year (Marino as well) from old, old stuff prior to the last deadline. Montreal might be looking to really bottom out. *shrug*
 
Totally reasonable return for Chychrun. Guess the Sabres interest in him was a smoke screen because if they were actually interested they certainly would have paid that. Wonder what the plan is then. Guess the same as with the goaltending. Another Comrie type and just do nothing.

I think I’d be less annoyed if they didn’t just ship off a solid and interesting prospect for another bad defenseman. If you want to stock up on the valuable future assets instead of trading them for a good player, fine, do it. If that’s the case, though, don’t make the Stillman trade.
