thats how i read it also but it came out the same time that a big offer by Buffalo was reportedly on the table. This kinda reads to me as "please don't freak out if we don't make a move" lol

I never said we should make panic moves to try to make the playoffs this year.
I'm just pointing out that in 3 years Adams has no history of adding significant players to the current roster via UFA or trade. (outside of Tuch who we also gave up Eichel to get)
I think it's a mistake in long term roster building that we didn't pick up anyone significant in 2021 or 2022 offseason via trade or UFA.
Look at NJ. They've been adding pieces for 2-3 years and now they're the 3rd best team in the league. They added good long term pieces before they were "ready". Because they knew those pieces they added would still be on the team once the prospects had matured.
Waiting until the team has matured to add anyone from outside could be too late.
Imagine if we had made even one good trade or signing in each of those off seasons instead of 0. Like imagine picking up a top 4 dman in 2021, and Husso this past year?
We'd be battling for 2nd-3rd in the Atlantic, not on the fringes of the WC.
Seams like a underwhelming return with the 50% retention through next year.
That Chicago GM is not great at getting value, less then expected for Debrincat and Dach, nothing for Toews probably not that much for Kane either. good. f*** them.
A first for McCabe at $2M with term left seems reasonable to me. Maybe a slight bit hefty......but McCabe @ 50% PLUS Lafferty for what basically amounts to a 1 and a 2 seems reasonable, if maybe a slight bit light.
We'll just have to see. I am all for staying the course, but standing pat and not giving these guys any help to try and sneak their way in is a bit unacceptable in my eyes. Doesn't have to be a big price paid, just something that shows you're willing to help out.thats how i read it also but it came out the same time that a big offer by Buffalo was reportedly on the table.
“P.S. I’m sorry to inform you but I have to trade half my prospect pool to acquire a 2 yr rental player”I respect it, I love the culture.
Just win, and everything will be as good as it can be.

You don’t usually get a pre-apology letter…but its not like he doesn’t have the free time

Can I have a follow up letter explaining how icing 6 NHL quality D and good goalies hurts the plan to develop the young players?
Been wondering that since the off-season of doing nothing
How many NHL D have they been icing? Can I have a follow up letter explaining how icing 6 NHL quality D and good goalies hurts the plan to develop the young players?

We waived Houser? What now? UPL going back down??
They hired a new PR company at the start of last season, we know. The Dahlin letter, the video of cozens thanking the fans, this letter, are all part of a marketing campaign.
When you transfer a player from AHL only to Sabres roster they must clear waivers. That's confusing. Why would we have to waive a player in the AHL - he has to pass through waivers to go to the ECHL?
OK - if he was on an AHL deal, and we want him on an NHL deal before the deadline, we have to sign him to the NHL deal, then waive him back to the AHL? Is that it?
That was Ted Murray in a nutshell. He wasn't afraid of overpaying and getting players he targeted. Unfortunately he might have been a decent scout at one time. almost every move he made turned out to be a detriment. Cause he didn't acquire players. He acquired parts that didn't fit or pan out.“P.S. I’m sorry to inform you but I have to trade half my prospect pool to acquire a 2 yr rental player”
Mitts replacement? Never played 82 games, though.I wonder at Schmaltz too. 27, reasonable deal, good quicks, has some ties to the NTDP for a moment as well as a U20 team that Don was assistant coach on. Just wondering.
I almost dusted off this emoji this morning.
The problem is they're throwing all their chips in, yet haven't had a good hand yet(playoff success).Listen I hate the leafs, it's in my blood.
I'm proud of them. Your team isn't stacked forever. Go try and win.
For Dubas it makes sense because he’s fighting for his job security, Tavares isn’t getting any younger, and Matthews next contact if he decides to re-up is gonna be debilitating. The problem is they're throwing all their chips in, yet haven't had a good hand yet(playoff success).
And the games nearly up on the big 4.The problem is they're throwing all their chips in, yet haven't had a good hand yet(playoff success).
Assets are assets. Picks, prospects, contracted players: all just a form of capital. They can be exchanged for the other forms when needed.I do enjoy the East spending valuable draft capital now I will say. The East may be stacked but in a few years it’ll be our time to shine with some of these other top teams aging, running into cap issues, and having less high draft picks to rectify. It’ll be something that gives us an advantage in the 4-8 years time frame.
It's hard to tell with UBI/LBI designations.Less satisfactory, but I don't believe his injuries have ever been related to one another?
If anything, the opposite.“P.S. I’m sorry to inform you but I have to trade half my prospect pool to acquire a 2 yr rental player”
