Rather focus on trying to get Buchnevich than Guentzel because of the term.

Keep Lindholm and dangle Podz and maybe our 2025 1st and Mik?

Credit where it’s due, this is a good one. Would pay a lot to swap Mikheyev for Buchnevich.

Only way I have any interest in Zucker is if we're dumping Mikheyev on them. I just don't see what he offers even for a third. He's absolutely not a top six and once Joshua's back, we have the third line locked. So... fourth line?
Tam is a bit soft and needs an upgrade on PDG.

remember being so excited after the 2014 draft

Virtanen i had after Nylander Ehlers but at least thought he would become a 20-20 guy and was happy for the hometown kid. Had no idea he was that dumb and lazy. Was almost NHL ready in terms of shot and skating with size/strength to boot
McCann i had rated at 10 so getting him at 24 i was elated. That Gudbranson deal was a dagger
Demko i had at 15 couldnt believe we got him at 36 especially after CGY taking a goalie lol
Tryamkin and Forsling were icing on the cake

We pretty much pissed it all away except for Thatcher thank F we at least got him still
That 2014 draft was one that stands out so clearly to me. There were a lot of posters high on Nylander and Ehlers with slightly different takes on which was better. Then there was the big, power forward group of posters that wanted one of Ritchie, Virtanen, and Perlini. Interesting that these three are all out of the league now in what should be their prime. But the biggest misses for most teams were failing to select Pastrnak or Point.

That Forsling contract is an obvious comparable for Hronek, and it was all UFA (unlike RFA Hronek).

This year Gp G A P TOI +/-
Forlsing 62 9 22 31 21:46 +44
Hronek 64 5 40 45 23:46 +32

Career Gp G A P TOI +/-
Forsling 380 45 108 153 20:19 +113
Hronek 373 35 167 202 22:33 -56

Just realized something, Forsling signed for less than Myers...

Various sources, including Sportsnet, are reporting that the Canucks will sign Phil Kessel before tomorrow's noon deadline.

I suppose if they sign him, there's no reason not to plug him into the lineup. But where does he fit? Maybe he's a winger who can get Lindholm going?

Lindholm was going for a 1st regardless of which team he was traded to. Their first will fall somewhere in the 25 to 32 range. As much as I like Kuzmenko, his cap space was worth way more than him as a player. Jurmo won't play in the NHL. Brzustewicz may but there are a lot of mountains to climb and questions to answer before he does.
I'm not saying the price wasn't high and that Lindholm hasn't been a little disappointing. But, if your judging the trade based on what others would have paid now, it only feels a little high because they sold Brzustewicz at peak value.

Don't get what you're trying to argue here. You can certainly judge the trade based on the current happenings.

On the bolded, Brzustewicz has 17 points in 11 games since the trade. We actually traded him when he was ice cold (moot point as I doubt his trade value has changed much since December though).

I'm not saying our management group is incompetent or stupid but I think they misgauged the whole trade market as they probably anticipated the prices would rise closer to the deadline. It's probably a good learning experience for Allvin.

Even the best GMs lose some deals. It happens.

The power play, maybe?
