Just hoping the Canucks add some low-cost depth by Friday's TDL, and not another blockbuster.

They've already done more than a lot of teams, adding Lindholm and Zadorov. But the price was heavy in terms of future draft picks.

Unfortunately if they want someone like Guentzel, it's going to cost them in the currency Pittsburgh is after--namely prospects. So that means Podkolzin, Wilander, Lekerimakki, D-Petey or even Raty might all be in play.

Far too high a price to pay for a rental like Guentzel.
If anyone was offering comparable this would already be done.

Slept on it, with Vegas and Colorado making significant progress yesterday, maybe I would prefer we move Lindholm for players that we can retain. Let’s say Vegas gets Guentzel, than maybe we trade Lindholm to NYR, they are apparently looking for a Center (still). For a KK, Schneider or Lafreniere or some equivalent to Carolina or Boston. They need to be able to be added to the line up, Necas would be a different example.

I think if we’re going to get him - the 3way trade makes the most sense. We recoup a 1st round + prospect and just add a 2nd round pick and prospect (Raty).

Toffoli is interesting

The way he was handled was peak Jim Benning
Plays well in the playoffs, has good chemistry with Pettersson, most people assume we re-sign him. considering what we gave up for him.

Benning Proceeds to NEVER even make a contract offer to Toffoli, and he signs a relatively cheap deal, that is EASILY manageable.
Benning turns around signs Virtanen, let’s stecher walk, trades for Schmidt, let’s Tanev walk, and signs a substantially worse player in Tanner pearson 4 months later for absolutely no frigan reason

Don't forget that Toffoli proceeds to absolutely ventilate us in the "Canadian Division"

I doubt we stand pat, but Guentzel looks like a long shot. Also hes on LTIR in a final year...if he isnt healthy soon enough to get chemistry with the group...maybe not worth it

That return for Hanifin - who is a top-20 NHL defender - is absolute garbage. What an absurd heist for Vegas.

And yeah, makes the Lindholm trade look shit.

Miromanov is worthless so basically they just got a 2025 1st.
I swear there is a phenomenon -- and I can't prove this, but I've long felt it -- whereby GMs of "cool" teams just get away with more from their own colleagues. Not talking free agents, but trades with other NHL teams. It's like a kid in high school being proud to have been selected for torment by the class bully.

Frank Corrado on S&P made a good point yesterday. Hard to keep Lindholm now after all this news has leaked that he isn’t a fit. I’m sure you can come back from it but extremely unlikely he resigns now.

I don’t know. There was all the noise with Miller to Pittsburgh at the deadline, including him being held out of the lineup - hard to fathom, now. Things change and it’s a business.

I also don't think there's much of any chance of Lindholm signing here at this stage, so if you think you can move him to make the team better down the stretch here I'm not sure why you'd be overly attached to the player.

Homie was ripping Hughes in the Kings game where he was the best player on the ice, and wants to trade for Zucker who’s making $5M and has 5 ES goals this season.
Id rather not get him at all but if we are pursuing him I would prefer Bjug to be added as a package

But he also would be traded by now if another team was willing to meet Dubas' price. No one has so Guentzel remains a Penguin at this time.

@MS...ya that is an absolute garbage return for a high end defender. Especially when there were likely many desirable destinations interested in the player.

I agree, we have other needs with our limited cap space anyhow and he only provides value on a bargin contract. It looks clear he isn’t interested in a discount and may find it hard to get paid this summer (huge luck on his part with the cap increase however).

Coneoy looking like a desperate housewife and dubas looking like a shitty insurance broker
Maybe they will run off together and we will get an update on how Dubas cleaned out Conroys bank account and left in the middle of the night, but somehow nothing of value remained.

No different than saying they were exploring trading Pettersson then a few days later he signs an 8 year extension. It's just the way of the business.

Wondering if we can make Kostin work by sending back a roster player and pick.

Good 4th line guy with size but 500K overpaid
